While we usually think of Vitamin D in terms of bone health, it is actually one of the most critical regulatory molecules for your skin. Interestingly, the skin is unique: it is the only organ that can synthesise vitamin D from sunlight, and it is also a major target that relies heavily on it to function properly.

At the cellular level, your skin cells express Vitamin D Receptors (VDRs). When Vitamin D binds to these receptors, it acts more like a hormone than a nutrient, directly switching on target genes that manage how skin grows, repairs, and protects itself.

No, this is a myth.

While Vitamin D synthesis requires UVB light hitting the skin, most people's sunscreen application is typically inconsistent or thin enough that UVB light still passively penetrates the skin.

Technically, you only need about 15mins of sunlight exposure to fully activate the Vitamin D process. The systemic risk of developing skin cancers and accumulating collagen degradation from unprotected exposure vastly outweighs any theoretical restriction on Vitamin D absorption.

Fungal Acne: Looks like small, perfectly uniform, red bumps (like tiny goosebumps) that usually appear in dense clusters. They don't typically have blackheads or whiteheads. Location: Common on the forehead, chest, back, and shoulders

Bacterial Acne: Varies in size and shape. You will often see a mix of blackheads, whiteheads, red papules, and sometimes deeper, painful cystic pimples. Location: Common on the face, neck, and back.
