Snacking at feeds? Here are some things to try:
**Increase flow** Size up the bottle teat or try a multi-flow teat. Breastfeeding? Massage and/or hand pump for a minute to help a quicker letdown.
**Reduce distractions** Feed in a dimmer, quieter room (no TV/bright lights).
**Give a safe focus** A teething necklace/safe fidget can help baby stay latched and focused.

Once baby can roll, it’s time to stop swaddling—sleep sacks are the easiest next step.
They keep baby warm without loose blankets (safer sleep = firm, flat surface + empty crib), help prevent wakeups from getting cold, and become a strong bedtime cue.
Bonus for older babies: they can also make climbing out of the crib harder.

Most parents think they’re doing “drowsy but awake”… but it’s usually “already falling asleep.”
Heavy eyelids, yawns, face rubbing = late cues. By then, baby’s overtired or dozing in your arms—so transfers trigger the pop-awake protest.
Try this instead: watch for early cues (quieter, zoning out, slower, less interested in toys, wants to cuddle). Do a quick wind-down (diaper, sleep sack, lights low, brief cuddle) and put baby in the crib awake — and earlier than you think!

Stroller naps can be tough—especially as babies get older. Between FOMO, distractions, and sensitivity to light/noise, some babies just won’t nap long on the go.
If your stroller nap caps at 20–30 minutes, don’t force it. Plan for another short nap later and make up for it with a solid nap at home so your baby doesn’t get overtired. The goal isn’t perfect stroller naps—it’s a well-rested baby by bedtime.

If rocking went from 5 minutes to 45 minutes and baby wakes on transfer, it’s often because they’re older, more alert, and the rocking/walking/shushing is now *too stimulating*—hello second wind.
Try doing *less*: shorten the wind-down, reduce motion-based sleep props, and let baby practice settling in the crib with less external help.

Yes, you can sleep train while room sharing! Create visual separation (curtain, screen, or blanket divider) so baby is less distracted and more likely to self-settle. Gentle boundaries = better sleep for everyone.

Happy New Year and here's to better sleep in 2026!!
My sleep philosophy in a nutshell: independent sleep is a developmental milestone—every child is different, and some need more support than others.
Sleep training isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay. Do what’s best for you and your family. You shouldn’t be guilted into it—or out of it. It’s okay to want restful sleep for your baby and for yourself. It’s okay to ask for help. 💗
