I am pleased to share our recently published article, “Esophageal Cancer in Somalia: Burden and Outcomes From a Multicenter Observational Study in Mogadishu,” in JCO Global Oncology.

This study highlights the growing burden of esophageal cancer in Somalia and provides important insights into patient presentation, management, and outcomes in our setting.

I am grateful to my co-authors and collaborators who contributed to this important work. Strengthening cancer research in Somalia is essential for improving early detection, treatment, and patient outcomes.

October Breast Cancer Awareness Month 💗
Shaafi Hospital, in collaboration with Jamhuriya University, conducted an important Breast Cancer Awareness and Self-Breast Examination (SBE) training session.
Medical students received practical instruction from experienced clinicians on how to perform SBE — a vital skill in the early detection and prevention of breast cancer.
Together, we are raising awareness, promoting education, and empowering communities to take proactive steps in women’s health.
