THE GENERAL'S GRAND ILLUSION. PRAISING THE WRONG MAN.
____________________________________________

Yesterday at late Amb. Gen. Bior Ajang's funeral, General Garang Mabil took center stage, delivering a speech that gave many mixed feelings. While some hailed him as a hero, others couldn't help but question the validity of his claims and the irony of his accusations.

It's no secret that the SPLM has lost its vision, and the nation is in desperate need of change to save its starving population. However, General Garang Mabil's decision to criticize the churches for preaching tribalism is nothing short of hypocritical. After all, this is the same man who was deeply involved in the recent Tuj agenda, aimed at wiping out the Dinka Ngok of Abyei to seize their land for revenue purposes.

In 2022, the so-called "People's General" Garang, along with his fellow high-ranking SPLA military Generals, embarked on a mission to capture Annet of Abyei Special Administrative Area. Their plans were thwarted by the Titbaai armed resistance youth of Abyei, who mobilized their comrades and led a fierce fight against the Dinka Ngok. In a twist of fate, General Garang nearly lost his life in Athoony, Abyei Special Administrative Area, and ended up with a broken ankle—a story he now tells with a mix of pride and regret.

But the irony doesn't stop there. During his speech, General Garang Mabil discussed the land policy, claiming that the SPLM declared the "land belonged to the community's" policy because of one community which is Ruweng. This, however, is a white lie. Ruweng has never had a land dispute with any other community or North Sudan. The land policy was actually introduced by Dr. John Garang, the then SPLM chairman, with the intention of allowing the people of Abyei to choose their allegiance through a referendum, thereby blocking North Sudan's claim over the oil-rich Abyei, the only disputed Area.

General Mabil's refusal to acknowledge this truth stems from his deep-seated hatr
