🌐Virgil van Dijk scored a dramatic 100th-minute winner as Liverpool won the first Premier League Merseyside derby at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Beto had cancelled out Mohamed Salah's strike for Everton before Van Dijk got on the end of Dominik Szoboszlai's corner in added time.

Just two minutes after Everton had Iliman Ndiaye's goal disallowed for offside, Salah got on the end of Cody Gakpo's ball to give Arne Slot's side the lead against the run of play in the first-half.

David Moyes' side equalised when Beto got on the end of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's ball, before Van Dijk got the winner in the 248th instalment of this historic rivalry.

Liverpool are seven points clear of sixth-placed Chelsea and in a strong position to secure Champions League football next season.

Everton started strongly and came close, with Giorgi Mamardashvili making important saves to deny Beto and James Garner.

They thought they had taken the lead when Ndiaye's strike hit the back of the net in the 27th minute and the home fans went wild, but the video assistant referee (VAR) deemed that Jake O'Brien was offside in the build-up and the goal was disallowed.

Two minutes later the majority of the stadium was silenced after Dwight McNeil lost the ball in his own half and Gakpo combined with Salah, who scored his ninth goal in a Merseyside derby. No player in the Premier League era has more.

Everton were gifted a way back into the game as Liverpool were punished for some sloppy defending when Beto got on the end of Dewsbury-Hall's ball across goal.

To make matters worse for Liverpool, Mamardashvili was injured when Everton equalised and, with Alisson Becker sidelined, on came Freddie Woodman for his first appearance in a Premier League game since 2021, when he played for Newcastle.

The 29-year-old was tested by Ndiaye as both managers made changes in their search for a winner, with Liverpool's Rio Ngumoha blazing over in added time.

In the 10th minute of 11 added on, Van Dijk scored to break Everton hearts.

Liverpool have scored six 90th-minute winners against Everton in the Premier League - the most for one side against any team in the competition's history.

🌐Manchester United took a massive stride towards securing a return to the Champions League as Matheus Cunha's first-half goal proved enough to beat out-of-form Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea's own hopes of a place at European club football's top table are in peril as they suffered a fourth Premier League defeat in a row for only the second time this century and were jeered off at the final whistle.

They have failed to score in any of those losses and have not found the net since 4 March.

Yet Chelsea will wonder how they managed to extend that sorry record.

Three times - through Estevao Willian, who went off with his second hamstring injury in a month after 16 minutes, Liam Delap and Wesley Fofana - Liam Rosenior's side saw chances come back off the woodwork.

The home side had more possession, shots, and shots on target. Their expected goals (xG) was also higher.

But it was the visitors who came away with the points as Bruno Fernandes' cutback was clinically dispatched by Cunha's first-time strike.

It was Fernandes' 18th assist in the league this season, two short of equalling the Premier League record.

United fans celebrated only a second league win at Stamford Bridge since 2002 almost as enthusiastically as they booed Alejandro Garnacho on his first appearance against his old club.

The home supporters broke into a "we want our Chelsea back" chant, although Mason Mount's introduction for the latter stages gave them someone to jeer as well.

🌐Tottenham's hopes of achieving Premier League survival were dealt a devastating late blow as Georginio Rutter scored a 95th-minute equaliser for European hopefuls Brighton.

Spurs appeared on course to end their desperate winless league run, which extended to a 15th match, and move out of the bottom three when Xavi Simons curled in with 13 minutes remaining.

Instead, Roberto de Zerbi's side remain one point from safety with just five games remaining - and their situation could yet worsen over the coming days with relegation rivals Nottingham Forest and West Ham yet to play, after Leeds United earlier distanced themselves from trouble.

That is after second-half substitute Rutter fired in with five minutes of the eight added for stoppage time to silence the home support and increase the club's relegation fears.

Former Brighton boss De Zerbi skipped towards his staff with delight when Pedro Porro headed in Xavi Simons' cross to release the first-half tension inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Porro's timely opener arrived amid Brighton's best first-half spell, during which Micky van de Ven knocked the ball against his own post and Antonin Kinsky saved Danny Welbeck's close-range header.

But Spurs were denied a half-time advantage by a sensational strike from Kaoru Mitoma - a 20th-minute substitute after an early injury to Diego Gomez - who volleyed into the top corner in first-half injury time.

Simons superb strike, after excellent work by substitute Lucas Bergvall to regain possession high up the pitch, looked to have given De Zerbi a crucial victory in his first home game in charge - one which would have lifted Spurs up two places to 16th.

But their hopes of avoiding a first top-flight relegation since 1977 remain in the balance after Rutter delivered a late sucker-punch to keep his side firmly in contention for a European place

🌐Leeds took a huge step towards safety with a victory that puts bottom side Wolves on the brink of relegation from the Premier League.

While Daniel Farke's side move nine points clear of the drop zone, at least temporarily, after a second straight league win, Wolves' relegation will be confirmed if Tottenham beat Brighton on Saturday evening (17:30 BST).

Even if Spurs fail to win, a point for West Ham at Crystal Palace on Monday (20:00 BST) would be enough to end the Molineux club's eight-year stint in the top flight.

Leeds defender James Justin opened the scoring with a superb overhead kick after Wolves failed to clear a corner at a lively Elland Road.

Just 85 seconds later, the hosts were celebrating again as they broke quickly and Noah Okafor finished smartly at the back post from Brendan Aaronson's fine low cross.

From that point onwards, the Whites lacked the intensity and drive that had earned them the lead but Dominic Calvert-Lewin made absolutely sure of the points with a penalty in second-half stoppage time.

Leeds endured a couple of nervy moments prior to that in the second half with goalkeeper Karl Darlow forced to make a brilliant save to keep out Wolves centre-back Ladislav Krejci's glancing header before Rodrigo Gomes scuffed wide with just Darlow to beat.

But, ultimately, Wolves didn't have the firepower to get themselves back into the game and Calvert-Lewin's spot kick started the celebrations for another significant win.

Things could hardly have gone better for Leeds since the international break - a place in the FA Cup semi-finals secured, a first league victory at rivals Manchester United since 1981 and now a win that makes top-flight football next season far more likely than not.

Three points takes the Yorkshire club to 39 points and no club in the Premier League era has gone down having taken as many points at this stage of the season

🌐Adrien Truffert fired home a late winner to extend Bournemouth's impressive unbeaten run on another damaging afternoon for Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe.

The visitors, who are now undefeated in the Premier League in a club record 13 games, looked determined to give manager Andoni Iraola a fitting send-off by finishing the campaign strongly after the Spaniard announced this week he would be leaving at the end of the season.

Although Newcastle forward William Osula cancelled out Marcus Tavernier's opener midway through the second half, there was still time for another twist at St James' Park.

Tavernier turned provider as he sent in a cross and Evanilson headed it down for the unmarked Truffert to fire into the roof of the net to send Iraola darting down the touchline as his side moved up to eighth place.

It was a familiar story for Howe against his former club after Newcastle threw away another result late on.

Howe said his fire was burning "very strongly" on the eve of this game, as his future comes under increased scrutiny, but it was Bournemouth who seized the initiative.

The visitors opened the scoring when Rayan skipped away from Lewis Hall down the right and cut the ball back across to Tavernier, who bundled home from close range.

There were a smattering of boos at half-time from the home support, but Newcastle responded in the second half.

Evanilson inadvertently played Osula in after hooking the ball forward while attempting to win it from substitute Bruno Guimaraes in the middle of the park.

Osula raced through, sorted out his feet under pressure from Marcos Senesi and slotted the ball past Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.

Although the goal was initially disallowed for offside by referee Tom Bramall, the decision was reversed to loud cheers from the home support following a check by the video assistant referee.

But there was still time for Truffert to score a dramatic winner to leave Newcastle in 14th place

🌐Brentford missed the chance to go sixth in the Premier League with a goalless draw against visitors Fulham - their fifth consecutive stalemate in the top flight.

A win would have helped the Bees overtake Chelsea and boost their chances of qualifying for a debut European campaign but they failed to capitalise in a game of few real chances at Gtech Community Stadium.

Fulham had the majority of possession but it was Brentford who had the best of chances in a lacklustre early kick-off.

Igor Thiago, only one behind 22-goal Erling Haaland in the Golden Boot race, headed wide from close range early on while Keane Lewis-Potter fired just over Bernd Leno's goal from eight yards in the dying seconds of the first half.

Dango Ouattara, who attempted the only shot on target before the interval, failed to trouble Leno again with an effort from distance in the 58th minute.

An unmarked Mikkel Damsgaard then failed to hit the target with a first-time effort from the edge of the box after Kevin Schade played him through as frustration continued to build for Keith Andrews' side.

Harry Wilson produced a well-timed run to get on the end of a cross in the 78th minute but dragged his shot wide in a rare opening for Fulham.

Leno then tipped over a free-kick from Mathias Jensen before the German goalkeeper emerged as Fulham's hero with a brilliant save to deny Ouattara from point-blank range in stoppage time to salvage the draw.

Brentford remain seventh with 48 points, while Fulham are 12th, three points behind the Bees with five matches remaining.
