A senior government envoy in South Sudan has donated vehicles and motorbikes to local authorities in Rumbek East County, in what officials say is an effort to improve service delivery and administrative efficiency.

Her Excellency Adut Salva Kiir Mayardit, the Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Programmes, handed over two vehicles and 10 motorbikes to county officials on Wednesday.

The donation includes a Land Cruiser hardtop for County Commissioner Zachariah Malual Anyuon and a Land Cruiser pickup for Paramount Chief Manyang Derder. Ten TVS motorbikes were also distributed to executive chiefs to support their daily administrative work.

The handover ceremony took place in Thon-Aduel, the headquarters of Rumbek East County, during a visit by a high-level government delegation.

South Sudan’s Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi Akol presided over the event alongside the envoy and Lakes State Governor Madhang Majok Meen.

Officials said the support is expected to improve mobility for local leaders, allowing them to better coordinate government activities and respond more effectively to community needs across the county.

SPLM to Hold Press Conference Over Nhial Deng Nhial’s 18-Page Declaration

The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) National Secretariat has announced a press conference to be held tomorrow at 10:00 AM at the SPLM Plaza in Juba.

The event comes in response to a recently circulated 18-page letter authored by Nhial Deng Nhial, a former senior member of the SPLM, which has sparked significant political discourse across South Sudan.

In the letter, Nhial sharply criticized the SPLM leadership, accusing the party of abandoning its founding principles and failing to meet the expectations of the South Sudanese people.

He further declared the establishment of a new political organization, the South Sudan Salvation Movement (SSSM), positioning it as an alternative to what he described as a stagnating SPLM.

Party officials have confirmed that the press briefing will address the contents of Nhial’s declaration, offering the SPLM’s official response to the allegations and outlining its stance on the formation of the SSSM.
