The neonatal periodโthe first 28 days of lifeโis the most critical time for a babyโs survival. Many newborn deaths can be prevented with simple, timely care.
๐ Ensure delivery is attended by a skilled health worker.
๐คฑ Start breastfeeding within the first hour after birth and breastfeed exclusively for the first 6 months.
๐ก๏ธ Keep your baby warm through skin-to-skin contact and appropriate clothing.
๐งผ Practice good hand hygiene and keep the umbilical cord clean and dry.
๐ Follow the recommended newborn check-ups and immunization schedule.
๐จ Seek immediate medical care if your baby has difficulty breathing, refuses to feed, has a fever or feels unusually cold, develops yellow eyes or skin, or has convulsions.
