Acting Chairperson of RRC Bans Sale of Humanitarian Supplies in Northern Bahr el Ghazal Markets

The Acting Chairperson of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC) in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State has issued an order banning the sale of humanitarian supplies in markets across the state.

Speaking to the media in Aweil on Thursday, Acting RRC Chairperson Hon. Gabriel Bol Dut said the commission had issued an order prohibiting the sale of humanitarian non-food items in local markets.

Dut said the measure is intended to ensure that humanitarian supplies are delivered directly to targeted beneficiaries, health facilities and schools through the RRC and the State Ministry of Health.

He warned that individuals found violating the order would face legal action.

Bol said the RRC remains committed to protecting humanitarian assistance intended for vulnerable communities and restoring public trust in the distribution of aid.

Meanwhile, The Northern Bahr el Ghazal State Police Commissioner, Maj. Gen. Gabriel Guet Padiet, said the police had received the RRC order banning the sale of humanitarian aid items in markets.

He said security agencies would enforce the directive and work to ensure that humanitarian supplies are protected from being diverted and sold in markets.

The Director General in the State Ministry of Health, Thomas Dogan Guot, also urged organizations and individuals involved in humanitarian activities to discourage the sale of donated non-food items.

Guot said the State Ministry of Health, RRC and state police are working together to enforce the order and prevent humanitarian aid from being sold in markets across Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.

The directive comes amid efforts by state authorities to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches the intended vulnerable communities and other targeted beneficiaries.
