Dr Riek Machar doesn't have immunity from prosecution for international crimes.
UN Human Rights Commissioner in South Sudan, Carlos Castresana Fernรกndez, states that signing a peace agreement doesn't grant Dr Riek Machar immunity from prosecution for international crimes.
During a press conference in Juba, he emphasised that accountability applies to all, regardless of political position, and prosecution must adhere to international standards for fairness.
The key questions about Riek Machar's case involve the tribunal's independence, the accused's rights, and sufficient evidence linking his conduct to crimes.
Castresana noted that his role includes monitoring human rights violations and gathering evidence for transitional justice, such as the proposed Hybrid Court. He explained that the court involves both South Sudanese and international judges to boost accountability, not undermine sovereignty.

๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐ โ I met with leaders of the Bul community from Mayom County, Unity State, led by Hon. Nyuon Jamnguan, Member of Parliament, in my office on Friday.
Our discussions focused on key concerns affecting the people of Mayom, particularly access to education and healthcare, including challenges facing students and communities in Juba and back home. I assured the delegation of the Governmentโs continued commitment to strengthening the delivery of essential services, especially in the health and education sectors.
We also discussed the impact of drought and climate change, which continues to affect communities across South Sudan. I assured the leaders that the Government is aware of these challenges and is working on measures to address their impact on our people.
The meeting further addressed border security and peaceful coexistence between Mayom County and neighbouring areas of Warrap State and Ruweng Administrative Area. I called for greater cooperation among communities and authorities along the borders to effectively address cross-border criminal activities, maintain peace and security, and promote peaceful cattle grazing.
As the country prepares for the forthcoming elections, I urged the people of Mayom County and the Bul community to actively participate in the electoral process by registering and exercising their right to vote in support of H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit, the sole presidential candidate.
The Bul leaders reaffirmed their readiness to participate in the elections and expressed their support for the Government and President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

Music singer Achol CM addressed her long-standing dispute with Kuei Black, claiming the feud was linked to shared dating with a music promoter, Angok China.
Achol, speaking on TikTok, said she ended her relationship with Angok and left him for Kuei Black. She revealed that the causes of the conflict were never disclosed when they were called by the Aweil community, but now believes it stemmed from their alleged relationship with Angok.
Achol hopes ending ties with Angok will resolve their issues, apologises to Kuei Black, and asks for forgiveness and reconciliation.
Achol urged Kuei not to attack her or send her team to confront her, recalling their times living together in Maleng alel.
Kuei, black, in her response to Achol, denies these claims, saying the conflict started before she knew Angok, and that he has always been her music promoter, denying any romantic involvement.
