𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — The leadership of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM), under the chairmanship of President Salva Kiir Mayardit, has intensified preparations for the Party’s 3rd National Convention and the general elections scheduled for December 2026.

On Wednesday, the party's top brass in a meeting chaired by President Salva Kiir Mayardit, who is SPLM Chairman and presidential candidate, reviewed preparations for the Party’s internal democratic processes, including congresses, primaries and the selection of candidates for the upcoming elections.

𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝟐𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – The Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, H.E. Prof. James Wani Igga, today joined government officials, mourners, and members of the family of the late Hon. Salvatore Garang Mabiordit to pay their last respects as his body was taken to Warrap State for burial.

Hon. Salvatore Garang Mabiordit was a devoted public servant who dedicated his life to serving the people of South Sudan with integrity and dignity.

He served as 1st Undersecretary in the Ministry of Finance and Planning, and later served as Minister in the same ministry on two occasions.

The Vice President extended condolences to the bereaved family and the people of South Sudan, praying that God grants comfort during this difficult time and eternal rest to Cde. Hon. Mabiordit.

The body of the late will be laid to rest in his home village of Gogrial West County, Warrap State.

𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝟐𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 – The Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, H.E. Prof. James Wani Igga, yesterday received a delegation of investors from China Construction Company Limited at his office in Juba.

The meeting focused on exploring investment opportunities in the Republic of South Sudan.

Mr. Wei Qiangyu, General Manager of the company and President of the China Chamber of Commerce in Ethiopia, expressed the company’s interest in partnering with the government on road connectivity and housing development projects across the country.

The National Minister of Investment, Hon. Amb. Joseph Mum Majak, who led the delegation, thanked H.E. the Vice President for the warm reception and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to attracting and facilitating investment in South Sudan.

In his remarks, H.E. Prof. Igga thanked the delegation and reiterated the government’s commitment to peace, development, and economic stability as key to creating a conducive environment for investors.

Also in attendance was Hon. Janet Aya Alex, Minister of Finance, Planning and Investment for Central Equatoria State.

𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝟏𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — SPLM First Deputy Chairman and Vice President of the Republic, H.E. Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga, today closed the three-days Constitutional Conference of the SPLM National Women’s League in Juba.

During the conference, H.E. Prof. Igga called for unity, peace, and reconciliation while urging SPLM National Women’s League members to be disciplined and to embrace transparency and accountability.

For his part, SPLM Secretary General, Dr. Akol Paul Kordit reaffirmed the party’s commitment to work with the SPLM National Women’s League in the upcoming elections.

The Chairperson of the SPLM National Women’s League, Cde. Adak Costa, affirmed the league’s support for Cde. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit in the upcoming general elections.

The SPLM National Women’s League members expressed their gratitude to Cde. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit for his wisdom, commitment to the nation, and support for the SPLM National Women’s League both in the country and abroad.

The three-days Constitutional Conference was held under the theme "Empowered Women, Empowered Nation."

𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, 𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝟏𝟑, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — The Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, H.E. Prof. James Wani Igga, arrived in Juba today after inaugurating the University of Yei.

While in Yei, H.E. Prof. Igga also engaged community, church, party, and business leaders in peace talks, noting that peace is paramount to development and economic stability.

The Vice President was seen off at Yei Airstrip by Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony and was received at Juba International Airport by senior members of the Ministerial Economic Cluster and staff of the Office of the Vice President.

𝐘𝐄𝐈 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐘, 𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝟏𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — The Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, H.E. Prof. James Wani Igga, yesterday officially inaugurated the University of Yei.

The inauguration, held at Yei Freedom Square, follows the directive of the President of the Republic, H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, for the establishment, incorporation, and statutory operationalization of three public universities: the University of Aweil, the University of Kuajok, and the University of Yei.

During the inauguration, H.E. Prof. Igga recognized Yei as a historic town where the first Anyanya Training Camp was established in 1962, and Anyanya One was declared on September 19, 1963, under the leadership of Gen. Joseph Lagu.

He also acknowledged that Yei is the place where the SPLA’s first headquarters was established by the late Dr. John Garang in 1997.

The Vice President encouraged the people of Yei to embrace peace, noting that fighting prevents development opportunities, undermines economic stability, and sets communities back.

He called for dialogue and urged communities to embrace peaceful coexistence, especially among the youth.

The University of Yei will be the first university established in the county. It is a recognition of the great contributions of the people of Yei during the liberation struggle and is expected to help empower the community.

𝐘𝐄𝐈 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐘, 𝐀𝐔𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝟏𝟏, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 — The Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, H.E. Prof. James Wani Igga, arrived in Yei County earlier today to officially inaugurate the University of Yei.

H.E. Prof. Igga was welcomed by H.E. Emmanuel Adil Anthony, Governor of Central Equatoria State, along with other senior national and state government officials, chiefs, community members, and church leaders.
