๐‰๐”๐๐€, ๐€๐ฎ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐Ÿ“, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ” โ€” SPLM First Deputy Chairman and Vice President of the Republic, H.E. Prof. James Wani Igga, today announced plans to renovate the SPLM Juba County office.

The announcement was delivered by Brig. Gen. Nyarji J. Roman, the Executive Director in the Office of the Vice President, during a meeting with Juba County SPLM Secretariat leadership. The meeting was chaired by Cde. George Pitia, SPLM chairperson of Juba County.

The renovation aims to modernize the party infrastructure, improve administrative operations and provide an updated base for county-level mobilization and electoral activities ahead of the general elections in December 2026.

The SPLM Juba County Secretariat welcomed the announcement. In a statement, the Secretariat reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the party wins in the upcoming general elections.

VICE PRESIDENT IGGA MEETS NEWLY APPOINTED GOVERNOR OF CENTRAL BANK OF SOUTH SUDAN, DR. ADDIS ABABA OTHOW

JUBA, JULY 31, 2026 - The Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, H.E. Prof. James Wani Igga, on Friday received the newly appointed Governor of the Central Bank of South Sudan, H.E. Dr. Addis Ababa Othow, on a courtesy visit following his swearing-in ceremony by the President of the Republic, H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit.

H.E. Prof. Igga welcomed Dr. Addis back to public service, noting that his reappointment for a second term reflects the trust of the leadership in his capacity to serve the people of South Sudan.

The Vice President directed the Governor to work diligently with members of the Economic Cluster to advance the countryโ€™s economic transformation agenda, with a focus on price stability, financial sector reforms, and inclusive growth.

For his part, Dr. Addis Ababa expressed gratitude to the President for the trust reposed in him and pledged to work as a team to address the economic challenges facing the country and its institutions.

VICE PRESIDENT PROF. IGGA DIRECTS GOVERNOR OF NORTHERN BAHR EL GHAZAL STATE TO MAINTAIN PEACE AND SECURITY

JUBA, JULY 29, 2026 - The Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, H.E. Prof. James Wani Igga, on Wednesday received a comprehensive briefing from the Governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, H.E. Charles Madut Akol, on the general political, security, and development situation in the State.

During the meeting, H.E. Prof. Igga directed the Governor to continue prioritizing peace and security in Northern Bahr el Ghazal State.

Governor Akol assured H.E. Prof. Igga of his governmentโ€™s commitment to maintain peace and security in the state.

The two leaders also underscored the importance of the upcoming first-ever democratic elections scheduled for December 2026, and discussed preparations to ensure a peaceful and inclusive electoral process in the State.

VICE PRESIDENT IGGA OFFICIATES THE NATIONAL LAUNCH OF THE CIVIC AND VOTER EDUCATION CAMPAIGN IN JUBA

JUBA, JULY 27, 2026 - The Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, H.E. Prof. James Wani Igga, today officiated on behalf of the President of the Republic, H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, the National Launch of the Civic and Voter Education Campaign for the General Elections scheduled for December 2026.

Organised by the South Sudan National Elections Commission, the event aims to create public awareness on voting procedures ahead of the December polls, to ensure that eligible voters can exercise their democratic rights in a free, fair, and peaceful manner.

Addressing the gathering, H.E. Prof. Igga congratulated the National Elections Commission for this historic step toward national elections.

He underscored that democracy is strongest when every citizen has the opportunity to participate, regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, political affiliation, or geographical location. "Our diversity is one of our greatest strengths," he said.

The Vice President made a special appeal to the youth. "I encourage our youth to come forward and register in big numbers. Young people are not only the leaders of tomorrow - they are the decision-makers of today" he said.

H.E. Prof. Igga also called for the full participation of women. "Womenโ€™s voices are indispensable in building peaceful communities and strong democratic institutions. Your participation enriches our democracy and strengthens our nation" he said.

He further urged elders to play their role. "I encourage our elders to continue providing wisdom and guidance by taking part in this important national exercise" he said.

In closing, the Vice President urged all eligible citizens, whether in urban centers or rural communities, to make voter registration a personal priority.

Held at the headquarters of the National Elections Commission in Juba, the event brought together senior government officials, leaders of political parties, civil society groups, faith-based leaders, the business community, youth, women, elders, media, artists, cultural groups, and members of the public.

VICE PRESIDENT IGGA OPENS SOUTH SUDAN NATIONAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP, PEACE AND SECURITY FORUM

JUBA, JULY 20, 2026 โ€“ The Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, H.E. Prof. James Wani Igga, today officially opened the two-day South Sudan National Youth Leadership, Peace and Security Forum in Juba.

The forum brought together senior government officials, youth leaders from the ten states and three administrative areas, civil society organizations, and faith-based leaders. Its purpose is to strengthen democratic governance and national development ahead of the December 2026 elections.

Held under the theme: โ€œYouth Voices for Peace: Shaping South Sudanโ€™s Democratic Transition, Social Cohesion and Economic Future,โ€ the event comes at a critical time as the country prepares for democratic elections in December 2026.

Addressing the gathering, H.E. Prof. Igga called on youth across the country to remain committed to democratic participation in elections and to unite under one vision for a peaceful and prosperous South Sudan.

Dr. Victoria Anib, Head of Mission of IGAD in South Sudan, reaffirmed IGADโ€™s continued support for South Sudanese youth in advancing the peace and security agenda.

In her remarks, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang Juuk, urged youth to actively participate in peacebuilding, unity and reconciliation, noting that youth make up 70 percent of the countryโ€™s population.

On behalf of faith-based groups, the Chairman of the South Sudan Council of Churches, Archbishop Justin Badi Arama, appealed to young people to promote peace, unity and development in their communities.

Taban Paride, Chairperson of the South Sudan National Youth Union, called on the Government, IGAD, and development partners to support and fund youth activities on peace and leadership across all ten states and three administrative areas. He said youth must be at the center of peacebuilding, democracy, and national development.

Youth constitute the majority of South Sudanโ€™s population. The Government of South Sudan remains committed to empowering the younger generation for a better future for the country.

VICE PRESIDENT IGGA MEETS INTER-AGENCY ECONOMIC REFORMS TASK FORCE TO ADDRESS ECONOMIC CHALLENGES

JUBA, JULY 19, 2026 โ€“ The Vice President of the Republic and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, H.E. Prof. James Wani Igga, this evening met with the Inter-Agency Economic Reforms Task Force, also known as the Ministerial High-Level Committee on Economic Reform, to deliberate on the economic challenges facing the country.

The Task Force was established by H.E. President Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit and endorsed by the Council of Ministers on the recommendation of the Economic Cluster.

During the meeting, the Committee briefed H.E. Prof. Igga on the current economic situation, progress made so far, and key recommendations for the way forward.

The Committee noted significant progress in the stabilization of commodity prices, particularly fuel, following engagements with the Somali Business Community in South Sudan. Fuel is a critical driver of the cost of living and transportation.

Commending the Committee, H.E. Prof. Igga welcomed the recommendations and urged members to maintain the spirit of service, cooperation, and urgency. He tasked the Task Force to continue working toward: restoring economic stability, strengthening public finance management, improving cash circulation, ensuring consistent and timely payment of salaries, and boosting government revenue collection.

He further called on citizens to remain patient as the government takes concrete steps to address the current economic hardships.

The Task Force is headed by Hon. Pieng Deng Kuol, Minister of East African Community Affairs. The Committee expressed appreciation for the support of the Economic Cluster and echoed the Vice Presidentโ€™s call for public patience as reforms are implemented.

SPLM 1ST DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON IGGA LAUNCHES SPLM MEMBERSHIP REGISTRATION DRIVE IN CES

JUBA, JULY 15, 2026 โ€“ The SPLM First Deputy Chairperson and Vice President of the Republic, H.E. Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga, on Wednesday officially launched the SPLM Membership Registration Book for Central Equatoria State at the State Secretariat in Juba.

The launch aims to encourage all party members in the state to register and fully participate in the partyโ€™s activities ahead of the December general elections.

Addressing the gathering, H.E. Cde. Prof. Igga emphasized the importance of teamwork. He noted that every member has a role to play and that all must work together as a team.

Cde. Igga also stressed the need for the full inclusion of women and youth. He said they should be involved not only during campaigns but also in decision-making. He called on all members to register so that they can exercise their democratic rights.

The exercise marks the beginning of the partyโ€™s membership registration campaign across all counties, payams, and bomas of the state.

Senior party members from the National Secretariat and the State Secretariat attended the launch.

SPLM 1ST DEPUTY CHAIRPERSON CALLS FOR REGISTRATION OF PARTY MEMBERS AND MOBILIZATION AHEAD OF DECEMBER ELECTIONS

JUBA, JULY 14, 2026 โ€“ The SPLM Leadership in Central Equatoria State today conducted a one-day seminar at Dambesh Hotel in Juba to prepare for the upcoming general elections in December.

The seminar was presided over by the SPLM 1st Deputy Chairperson and Vice President of the Republic, H.E. Cde. Prof. James Wani Igga. It focused on the implementation of the directive of the SPLM Chairman and President of the Republic, H.E. Cde. Salva Kiir Mayardit, to conduct democratic elections in the country.

Addressing party members, Cde. Igga called on them to be peace ambassadors in their respective areas.

He further urged party members to strengthen and revitalize the party, register existing members, and conduct massive recruitment and mobilization of new members at this critical moment.

For her part, the SPLM Second Deputy Chairperson, Cde. Mary Apayi Ayiga, appealed to party members to remain committed to peace, unity, and development in the state.

Meanwhile, the SPLM Secretary for Political Mobilization at the SPLM National Secretariat, Cde. Amb. John Androga, said the National Secretariat would continue to work closely with SPLM State Secretariats to ensure the party wins democratically in the December 2026 general elections.

The SPLM Chairperson in Central Equatoria State, Cde. Emmanuel Adil Anthony, thanked the SPLM Chairman, Cde. Salva Kiir Mayardit, for his unwavering commitment to strengthening party structures and preparing the party for the future.

Cde. Adil also acknowledged the contribution of SPLM leaders at the county, payam, and boma levels for their commitment to the party and determination to advance the SPLM agenda.

JUBA, July 9, 2026 โ€” His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Thursday led the nation in commemorating the country's 15th Independence Anniversary, urging all stakeholders to continue striving for unity, peace, national cohesion, and prosperity through joint efforts.

In his keynote address, the Head of State emphasised that as the country marks the significant national milestone, it was important to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who fought for the country's independence and their contribution towards shaping its history.

The national ceremony, held at the Presidency, was attended by government officials, members of the diplomatic community, military generals, political party representatives, religious leaders, civil society groups, and academicians, among others.
