H Antigen

A major blood group Antigen that defines blood type 🩸 O, the essential precision of major ABO group Antigen and is made up of B-D galactose molecules.

A human have H Antigen on RBCs. However, some people particularly those who are A blood type have another blood group Antigen called A antigen, screen they have A alleles that encodes for the enzyme.

Glcosyl transferase that catalyzes to the H antigen.those who are B blood group type have a different blood group antigen called B antigen,they gave B alleles that encodes for an enzyme that catalyzes the joining of galactose to H antigen.

As for those with blood type AB, both A and B alleles are formation of both A and B antigen on the surface of RBCs .

In contrast, those with blood type O 🩸 lack them, and the enzymes, and therefore, would have no other but H antigen on their RBCs.

Notes

The Hh blood group 🩸🩸contains one antigen, the H antigen, which is found on virtually all RBCs and is the building block for the production of the antigens within the ABO blood group 🩸🩸🩸🩸

H antigen deficiency

The H antigen deficiency is known as the Bombay phenotype (h/h) also known as Oh) . therefore,there is no ill effect with being H deficient but if a blood transfusion 🩸🩸 is ever needed, people with this blood type can receive blood only from other donors who are also H deficient ( A transfusion of normal group O blood can trigger a severe transfusion reaction 🥲🥲🙂) because the H antigen is the precursor of the ABO blood group antigens,🩸🩸🩸if it's bot produced, the ABO blood group antigens are also not produced.
