Lessons Beyond the Trophy. 🇸🇸🤝🇷🇼

The students of Alekma Academy shared their unforgettable experience from Rwanda, describing it as a beautiful country where peace, respect, and unity are part of everyday life. They believe South Sudan can also become a nation where people choose peace over conflict and work together for a brighter future.

As runners-up in the debate competition, they didn’t see second place as the end of the journey. Instead, they embraced it as motivation to work even harder. Their message is simple: Losing today doesn’t mean losing forever. Learn, improve, and come back stronger. Winning all the time doesn’t teach us as much as the challenges we overcome.

Congratulations to Alekma Academy for your inspiring spirit. Keep dreaming, keep learning, and keep believing. Your next victory is ahead! đź’™

PUBLIC CONCERN | HEALTHCARE WORKFORCE AND PATIENT SAFETY

During today’s event at Malakal Teaching Hospital, concerns were raised by some observers regarding workforce renewal, patient care standards, and employment opportunities for newly graduated nurses.

Some members of the public expressed the view that healthcare facilities should regularly assess whether all clinical staff — regardless of age or years of service — continue to meet the physical, professional, and communication demands required for safe patient care.

At the same time, many young nursing graduates remain available and are seeking opportunities to contribute to the healthcare sector.

This has led to a public call for hospital leadership and relevant authorities to review staffing needs, support continued professional development, and create fair pathways for qualified young professionals while respecting the contribution of experienced staff.

This report is not intended to attack or remove any individual worker. It is a call for evaluation, quality service delivery, and balanced opportunities in the health sector.

Patient safety, professional standards, experience, and new talent should move together.

🕊️ A painful reminder to our young boda riders and our community

Today, our hearts are heavy.

A young boda rider in Malakal lost his life and was laid to rest yesterday. A life with dreams, a future, and people who loved him. This is not just another story—it is a warning for all of us.

To our young brothers riding boda: life is precious. Speed, showing off, ignoring safety rules, and taking unnecessary risks are not worth it. Your family wants you home safe every day.

To parents and guardians: please guide and protect our children. Let us not allow young lives to be lost too early.

And to the government and responsible authorities: we respectfully call for stronger action, guidance, and enforcement to reduce underage and unsafe boda riding. More awareness and protection are needed before more families are left in tears.

One burial is already too many.

Rest in peace to the young soul we lost. May this tragedy open our eyes and save others.

Life is for living, not for risking away.

History has a way of repeating itself. The song South Sudan by Gordon Koang was dedicated to CDR Kong Chol Raanley in recognition of his leadership and service to the people. He once served as Governor of Upper Nile State, was later removed from office, and has now been reappointed once again. Seeing his photo featured with the song that was dedicated to him is a powerful reminder of his long journey in public service. Congratulations to H.E. CDR Kong Chol Raanley on his reappointment as Governor of Upper Nile State. May his leadership bring peace, unity, and development to the state and the nation. 🇸🇸
