Prof. Akec demands to take over Juba Teaching Hospital under University of Juba

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Juba, Professor John Akec, has urged the national government to allow him to take over the management of Juba Teaching Hospital under the university’s management.

Addressing participants during the World Cancer Day celebrations, Akec said the situation in the hospital continues to worsen due to poor management. He added that when Juba Teaching Hospital is placed under the university, the service will improve.

“If we were given the opportunity to manage Juba Teaching Hospital, we could actually demonstrate what can be done to improve the service,” Akec said.

He further called on the national government to consider his demand. “I urge the government to put Juba Teaching Hospital under the University of Juba,” he added.
