A 60-year-old man was killed and another person injured after lightning struck them during a rainstorm in Juba on Friday, according to a family member.

Juba Teaching Hospital received more than 100 emergency cases and one death during the Independence holiday.

Hospital Director General, Anthony Lupai Simon, says the death was of a foreign national who died before reaching the hospital, while the injury cases were caused by knives and other sharp objects, but were not severe.

Dr. Lupai also confirms seven accident cases.
