82/14 HoME Extension in Progress

Chai Roll House is a design-driven renovation project that reimagines a four-story shophouse as a vertical home for a family of three siblings. The project focuses on balancing individuality and togetherness—each family occupies a private floor, while shared spaces foster connection.

The design retains the original structural framework and building systems, grounding the renovation in its existing urban context. The facade is updated to reflect a contemporary aesthetic in harmony with the surrounding neighborhood.

Key architectural moves include opening up double-height spaces in the common areas and introducing a central skylight above the stairwell. These elements create vertical visual connections, encourage stair use, and enhance natural ventilation and daylight throughout the home.

Chai Roll House คือโครงการปรับปรุงอาคารพาณิชย์ 4 ชั้น โดยมีแนวคิดการออกแบบเป็นแกนหลักในการแปลงโฉมให้กลายเป็นบ้านพักอาศัยแนวตั้งสำหรับครอบครัวพี่น้องสามคน โครงการนี้มุ่งเน้นการสร้างสมดุลระหว่างความเป็นส่วนตัวของแต่ละครอบครัวกับพื้นที่ที่ใช้ร่วมกัน เพื่อส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์ภายในบ้าน

การออกแบบยึดโครงสร้างและระบบเดิมของอาคารไว้เป็นแกนหลัก โดยต่อยอดให้เข้ากับบริบทของชุมชนเมืองที่อยู่โดยรอบ รูปลักษณ์ภายนอกได้รับการปรับปรุงใหม่ให้ดูร่วมสมัย สอดคล้องกับการใช้งานภายในที่เปลี่ยนแปลงไป

ภายในมีการเปิดพื้นที่ให้มีความสูงสองชั้นในส่วนกลาง เช่น ห้องนั่งเล่นและห้องทานอาหาร เพื่อให้เกิดความโปร่งโล่งและเชื่อมโยงพื้นที่ในแนวตั้ง นอกจากนี้ยังมีการออกแบบช่องแสงสกายไลท์เหนือโถงบันไดกลางอาคาร ช่วยนำแสงธรรมชาติเข้ามาภายในบ้าน เชื่อมโยงสายตาระหว่างแต่ละชั้น กระตุ้นการใช้งานพื้นที่ร่วม และส่งเสริมการระบายอากาศตามธรรมชาติทั่วทั้งอาคาร

ในการรีโนเวทบ้าน การออกแบบพื้นที่คือกุญแจสำคัญในการสร้างมูลค่า ไม่ใช่แค่ในเชิงราคา แต่รวมถึงประสบการณ์ในการอยู่อาศัยของผู้คนด้วย เป็นการคิดใหม่ให้กับผังบ้านเดิมที่ล้าสมัย แล้วเปลี่ยนให้กลายเป็นพื้นที่ที่เปิดโล่ง เชื่อมโยงกัน และตอบสนองต่อวิถีชีวิตยุคใหม่

EP.11 ENTRANCE

“ ทางเข้า” เป็นองค์ประกอบสำคัญในการรีโนเวทบ้าน ทำหน้าที่เป็นสะพานเชื่อมระหว่างพื้นที่ภายนอกและภายใน โดยผสานความสวยงาม การใช้งาน และอัตลักษณ์ของบ้านเข้าไว้ด้วยกัน ทำให้เกิดความประทับใจแรกแก่ผู้ที่เข้ามา

การออกแบบทางเข้าควรให้ความรู้สึกอบอุ่นและเป็นมิตร ด้วยองค์ประกอบที่ใส่ใจ เช่น ประตูที่โดดเด่น แสงสว่างที่เหมาะสม และทางเดินที่ชัดเจน เพื่อเสริมทั้งความสวยงามและการเข้าถึง

ในการรีโนเวทบ้าน “บันได” ไม่ได้เป็นเพียงทางเชื่อมระหว่างชั้น แต่เป็นองค์ประกอบสำคัญที่สะท้อนระหว่างอดีตและปัจจุบัน บันไดยังสามารถถ่ายทอดอัตลักษณ์ของบ้านได้อย่างชัดเจนอีกด้วย

โครงสร้างเก่า กับ วัสดุใหม่
การคงโครงสร้างบันไดเดิม ไว้ แต่เลือกใช้ วัสดุใหม่ ช่วยรักษาโครงสร้างอาคารเดิมไว้ ในขณะเดียวกันก็เพิ่มความทันสมัย ความปลอดภัย และความสวยงาม เช่น การกรุบันไดปูนเดิมด้วยไม้เรียบ เพื่อให้ดูร่วมสมัยมากขึ้น

ในงานออกแบบการรีโนเวทนี้ หน้าต่างแบบพื้นถึงฝ้า (Floor-to-ceiling) มีบทบาทในการเชื่อมต่อภายในกับภายนอก โดยการนำแสงธรรมชาติเข้ามาในตัวอาคารอย่างเต็มที่ หน้าต่างขนาดใหญ่เหล่านี้เปลี่ยนแปลงการรับรู้พื้นที่ภายใน โดยทำให้ขอบเขตระหว่างพื้นที่ส่วนตัวและพื้นที่เปิดโล่งเบลอออกไป

ไฟซ้อน หรือแสงที่ไม่ส่องโดยตรง เช่น ไฟซ่อนตามฝ้า เพดาน หรือผนัง ช่วยลดความจ้า ทำให้บรรยากาศภายในดูนุ่มนวล สบายตา และยังช่วยขับเน้นผิวสัมผัสของวัสดุได้อย่างละเมียดละไม เหมาะมากกับพื้นที่ขนาดเล็กหรือห้องที่ต้องการความรู้สึกอบอุ่น

ในการรีโนเวทบ้าน แสงและเงาไม่ใช่แค่ผลพลอยได้ของแสงธรรมชาติ แต่เป็นเครื่องมือที่ทรงพลังในการสร้างบรรยากาศและมิติของพื้นที่

ฉากบัง : ฉากบังช่วยกรองแสงแดด ทำให้เกิดเงานุ่มนวลเป็นลวดลาย สร้างความเป็นส่วนตัวโดยไม่ปิดกั้นแสงและลม เหมาะกับบ้านในเมืองหรือพื้นที่มีแดดจัด

แสงเงา : เงาทึบที่เกิดจากวัตถุที่ตัดกับแสงโดยตรง เช่น เคาท์เตอร์ที่มีกระจกฝ้าด้านหลัง ช่วยเพิ่มมิติและดึงจุดเด่นของวัตถุด้านหน้าให้คมชัด และเน้นความขลังของวัตถุนั้นได้ด้วย

การใช้งานโครงสร้างเดิมในอาคารเก่า คือการออกแบบที่มุ่งเน้นการปรับปรุงและเปลี่ยนแปลงอาคารเก่าให้กลับมาใช้งานได้ใหม่ โดยไม่ทำลายหรือลืมลักษณะเดิมของอาคาร

มันคือการ รักษาความเป็นเอกลักษณ์ ในขณะที่ สร้างการเปลี่ยนแปลง โดยสถาปนิกจะพิจารณาอย่างรอบคอบว่าอะไรควรเก็บรักษาไว้, อะไรที่ควรปรับปรุง, และวิธีการผสมผสานระหว่างสิ่งเก่าและสิ่งใหม่ให้เข้ากันได้อย่างกลมกลืน ทั้งในแง่โครงสร้าง, ความสวยงาม, และการใช้งาน
