In my work, I get to meet some brilliant minds, and Dr. Jamelia Harris is no exception.  A busy lady, it was a pleasure to finally get her in the studio to update her images, thoughtfully orchestrated by her sister.

Meeting her, I was struck not only by her charisma, but by her thought-provoking and reflective nature. I felt that these images captured a little of the woman behind the accomplishments, and I’m so pleased to have had the opportunity to photograph her.

Here’s a little more about Dr. Jamelia Harris:

Dr. Harris is an Economist with over 15 years’ experience in development economics, labour economics, public finance and public policy. She is presently an Assistant Professor at the Institute for Employment Research, University of Warwick. Before joining Warwick, she worked as a consultant in international development for a number of years.

Her research interests include labour market institutions; how history, politics and culture affect the labour market; transitions from education to work; job quality; and fair and decent work. She has conducted research in several countries in Africa, the Caribbean and the UK, and has taught at universities in the UK, Lithuania and Sierra Leone. She has also advised governments on their public financial management policies in Sierra Leone and Ethiopia. She has published several academic journal articles, reports and working papers, and currently writes opinion pieces in the local Trinidad and Tobago newspapers.

Outside of work, Jamelia enjoys travelling, reading, playing board games, hiking and liming with friends and family.

Jamelia has lived and worked abroad for a number of years and has travelled to over 40 countries, but she remains a Trini to d bone and a proud product of her Morvant/Laventille community.

Reanne wanted updated images for her professional profiles, and I wanted to create portraits that reflected her natural warmth, confidence, and approachability.

It was a pleasure capturing her charming aura and creating images that feel both professional and authentic.

Here’s a little more about Reanne:

Reanne is an ACCA-qualified accountant with over a decade of experience across the insurance industry, regulatory compliance, financial reporting, and auditing.

Throughout her career, she has developed a strong ability to lead, support, and inspire her team, creating an environment where everyone is encouraged to grow, stay motivated, and achieve success.

Beyond her professional life, Reanne is a proud mom to one boy and a family-oriented person who values time with her loved ones.

When she’s not working or caring for her family, you’ll find Reanne enjoying a good movie or TV series, or getting creative with crafting.

Kelvin K. Alleyne is a Human Resources professional, consultant and tertiary educator with a passion for learning, leadership and creating meaningful impact.
His professional and academic journey has taken him across disciplines, from human resources and organizational development to international relations, global business, instructional design and project management, reflecting a curiosity that extends well beyond any one field. As a tertiary educator and facilitator, he enjoys bringing that mix of practical experience and perspective into the learning space.
Away from the professional titles, Kelvin enjoys a good laugh, a good bite and an even better adventure. An avid traveller with an ever-growing curiosity for the world, he's always ready for the next trip; sometimes carefully planned and sometimes booked entirely on a whim. Exploring new countries, cultures and experiences is one of his favourite ways to reset, discover and simply enjoy life.
At his core, Kelvin believes in continuing to grow, explore, remain curious, and never taking himself too seriously, professionally, personally, and sometimes one passport stamp at a time.

Three years ago, Dr Saheeda decided that when she was ready for a portrait session, she wanted me to photograph her.

This year, she finally did.

A lecturer in Food Science and Technology at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, she has spent more than 15 years teaching, researching and mentoring the next generation of professionals.

But beyond academia, she enjoys good food, music, the people she loves and playing her violin simply for the love of it.

So when she came to Miles of Beauty for updated professional headshots, we also created portraits that celebrated the woman behind the profession.

Lifestyle Branding session for Jamila Bannister

I was honoured when Jamila chose Miles of Beauty for her personal branding session. With a clear vision for her brand, she made it easy to capture the radiance, strength, and authenticity that define who she is.

Jamila Bannister is a Marketing Communications Professional, Personal Brand Strategist, entrepreneur, and author of The Brandprint. Through her work, she helps women turn their skills and stories into profitable personal brands.

Her journey became even more meaningful after a Stage 3 breast cancer diagnosis in 2023. It reinforced her belief that life is too short to stay hidden behind work that doesn't reflect who you truly are or what you're capable of. As Jamila says, leaning into your purpose isn't a luxury—it's a responsibility we all carry.

It was a privilege to tell a small part of her story through these portraits. ✨
