The USJ ticket trap that catches first-time visitors โ and how to avoid losing a full day to it.
Universal Studios Osaka isn't somewhere you "show up and figure it out." Walk-up tickets barely exist anymore, and the wrong ticket combo can mean watching everyone else ride Mario Kart while you queue 90 minutes for one ride. Here's the real playbook.
๐๏ธ 1. Book in advance โ gate sales are basically gone
Almost no walk-up tickets are sold these days. Book online or risk being turned away.
๐
2. Pick your day right (this is where the savings hide)
USJ uses tier pricing (AโF). Weekdays are dramatically cheaper than weekends or holidays. Tickets release ~2 months ahead โ set a calendar reminder.
๐ 3. Where to book
Trip.com's e-ticket flow is faster than the official Japanese site, gives you a QR scan to skip the booth, and runs bundle promos. Click and go.
๐จ 4. Studio Pass โ Express Pass (the rookie mistake)
- Studio Pass = entry to the park
- Express Pass = skip the lines
You buy them SEPARATELY. Express Pass slots for Mario / Harry Potter / Flying Dinosaur sell out within hours of release.
๐ฎ 5. Super Nintendo World needs ANOTHER ticket
The "Area Timed Entry Ticket" is required and separate. Get it via the USJ App after entry, or bundle it with Express Pass at booking time.
โฐ 6. Day-of MVP advice
Arrive 30โ60 minutes before official opening. Beeline straight for Mario Kart, Harry Potter, or Flying Dinosaur โ the queues balloon by 10am.

This cafe in Tainan is a hidden gemโจ๏ธ๐
The whole cafe it's made out of glasses. The sunlight shine through and gave off a very nice and chill vibe.
This cafe is hidden inside an art museum, you can skip the museum and just tell the person that you want to go to the cafe at 5th floor! Then they will ask you to turn a gachapon at the counter, per gachapon is TWD50 and you will get a wristband and a small glass item. It can be used to deduct for your drinks later at 5th floor if you don't want the small glass item.
This is definitely a cafe that you don't want to miss when you are here!

Skip the Bangkok rooftop crawl. This riverside resort routine is what tired travelers actually want.
If your last Bangkok trip was Khao San โ Chatuchak โ some sky bar โ repeat, this one is for you. A slower, three-stop riverside circuit you can do entirely in shorts. Anchor it at Anantara Riverside Bangkok and the rest unlocks itself.
๐๏ธ Riverside Plaza Bangkok
Right next door to the hotel. Restaurants, drugstores, casual apparel. The point isn't shopping โ it's having an air-conditioned escape 30 seconds from your room when the midday heat becomes a real thing.
๐ Brio (inside Anantara)
An Italian place that quietly serves the best wood-fired pizza in this part of Bangkok. The Quattro Formaggi is the move. Casual ambiance, riverside breeze โ couple-friendly without being stiff.
โ Somersault Coffee at Charoenkrung
Take Anantara's complimentary shuttle boat across the river. Five minutes. Land at one of Bangkok's most respected specialty roasters โ minimalist space, beans roasted in-house, the kind of pour-over you'll think about a week later.
๐ข The hack most people miss
The hotel's free shuttle boat IS the entire reason this routine works. It hops between properties on both sides of the river, runs roughly every 15โ20 minutes, and turns "across the river" from a 40-minute taxi nightmare into a leisurely 5-minute glide.
๐ Base hotel: Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort
Rates dip noticeably in May (start of green season). Worth it for the pool alone.

The Beijing escape no one tells you about โ and it costs less than a coffee.
Everyone goes to the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. Both are worth it. But if your Beijing trip needs one slow, beautiful afternoon away from crowds, this is the answer almost no Malaysian travel guide will mention.
๐ท China National Botanical Garden
Massive, gorgeous year-round, and entry is dirt cheap (~ยฅ10). Whatever month you visit, something is in bloom.
๐๏ธ When to go
- MarchโApril: peach blossoms + magnolias. Spring photo gold.
- MayโJune: roses begin. Tulip season tail-end.
- JuneโJuly: lotus pond + summer roses.
- SeptemberโOctober: chrysanthemums. The autumn version of the spring magic.
- November: ginkgo and maple. Less famous, equally stunning.
๐ถ The 3.5-hour route (do this exact order)
South Gate โ Peach Blossom Creek โ Rose Garden โ Lotus Pond โ Greenhouse โ Wofo Temple โ Cherry Valley โ exit at North Gate.
You don't backtrack, you see all the highlights, and you end at a different gate so a taxi or DiDi pickup is fast.
๐ฃ Worth doing
- Boat ride on the Lotus Pond: ยฅ20/hour. Quiet water, lily pads, basically Chinese painting come to life.
- Wofo Temple inside the garden โ for the cultural pause.
๐ธ Pro tip
Bring a real camera if you have one. The tulip and peony beds confuse phone-camera color science badly. Even a basic mirrorless makes a noticeable difference.

The one museum locals quietly hope tourists keep skipping โ and exactly why you shouldn't.
If you're in Taipei and only visit night markets and Taipei 101, you're missing the most concentrated collection of Chinese imperial art on the planet. Half a day at the National Palace Museum will recalibrate what you thought "old" meant.
๐๏ธ Why it's a must
The National Palace Museum holds nearly 700,000 pieces of Chinese art and antiquities โ many smuggled out of mainland China during the civil war. Jade carvings, ivory works, calligraphy, ceramics. The famous Jadeite Cabbage and Meat-shaped Stone are here.
๐ธ The best photo angles
- Outside, frame the green-tiled palace roof against the forested hill behind it. Late afternoon sun makes the yellow walls glow.
- The carved ivory perfume ball (pictured) is one of the most photographed pieces โ multiple concentric layers, all hand-carved, all spinning.
๐๏ธ Practical tips
- Half a day minimum. There's just too much to power-walk.
- Buy tickets online here (https://invl.me/clnfqux) to skip the entry queue (saves 20โ40 minutes on weekends).
- Bring a refillable water bottle. The hill is humid in May.
- Audio guides are worth the small rental fee โ much of the context isn't on the wall labels.
๐ Getting there
Take MRT to Shilin Station, then bus 255 / Red 30 / 304 about 15 minutes uphill. Or just grab a taxi from Shilin (~NT$150).

5 days in Seoul without burning out or burning your wallet โ copy this itinerary as-is.
Most "Seoul itineraries" online either cram 12 stops a day or skip the practical bits like which subway exit to use. This one walks the line between sightseeing and actual rest. Save it.
๐๏ธ Day 1 โ Land + ease in
- Land at Incheon (ICN). Take AREX express straight to Seoul Station โ fastest and cheapest combo.
- Hongdae for street performances and boutique shopping. Rainy day backup: Leeum Museum of Art (don't skip the Damien Hirst exhibition if it's on).
- Eat: Sinchon-style spicy stir-fried chicken + Korean bread.
- Stay: Unit D Hostel, Mapo-gu โ walkable to everything.
๐๏ธ Day 2 โ Nature reset
- Namsan Park stroll โ N Seoul Tower for the city view (best at sunset).
- Picnic under the tulips if your timing is right (Aprilโearly May).
๐๏ธ Day 3 โ Hanbok + palaces
- Rent a hanbok near Gyeongbokgung Palace (entry is free if you're wearing one).
- Bukchon Hanok Village for traditional architecture photos.
- Insadong for tea, calligraphy, souvenirs that aren't tacky.
- hanbok i rented from Klook : https://invl.me/clnfqu8
๐๏ธ Day 4 โ Trendy Seoul
- Seongsu for cafes and indie shops (the Brooklyn of Seoul).
- Hannam-dong for high-end dining.
- Han River cruise at sunset โ surprisingly underrated.
๐๏ธ Day 5 โ Slow finish
- Common Ground or Starfield Library for last-minute photos.
- Myeongdong for street food and last-mile shopping.
- Cab to ICN or take AREX back โ leave 3.5h before flight.
๐ Real talk: T-money card is non-negotiable. Buy at any convenience store, top up โฉ20,000, refund the unused balance before you leave. Or buy online here : https://invl.me/clnfqtv

KL hit 33ยฐC today. Right now in Sapporo, it's 9ยฐC. Pack a jacket and let me show you a perfect day there.
Most "Sapporo in 1 day" guides cram in 12 stops and a photo at every Pokรฉmon manhole. This is a tighter version that lets you actually feel the city instead of speed-running it.
๐ Morning โ Nijo Market
Downtown's traditional seafood market. Hokkaido scallops, uni, snow crab โ get a seafood donburi or sushi for breakfast. Show up before 10am for the freshest catch and almost zero crowd.
๐ฟ Late morning โ Odori Park
A 1.5km green strip that splits Sapporo down the middle. In May, the snow is gone but the air is crisp and the lilacs are starting to bloom. Walk the whole length, end at the TV Tower, ride up for the city view.
๐ Lunch โ Ramen Yokocho (Shopping Districts)
Sapporo's miso ramen is non-negotiable. Susukino's "Ramen Alley" packs ~17 shops into one tiny street. Pick by the queue length โ locals know.
๐๏ธ Afternoon โ Tanukikoji + Susukino
Covered shopping arcade for rainy-day backup. Susukino is the entertainment district โ by day, it's calm. By night, it's neon.
๐๏ธ Sunset โ Mt. Moiwa Ropeway
Cable car up to one of Japan's three most famous night views. Aim for 30 minutes before sunset and stay until the city lights come on.
๐ป Dinner โ Susukino izakaya crawl
Pick any small lane and walk in. Genghis Khan (grilled lamb) is the local move. Don't leave Sapporo without trying it.
โ๏ธ Practical tip: in May, mornings are 5โ8ยฐC, afternoons hit 14โ16ยฐC. Light down jacket morning and evening, t-shirt at lunch.

โจW Guangzhou Hotel
๐ก Super convenient location with plenty of nearby attractions
W Guangzhou Hotel is located at No. 269 Huashui Road, Zhujiang New Town, Tianhe District. This location is truly fantastic!
Not only is it surrounded by bustling commercial centers, but there are also many must-visit attractions nearby.
From the hotel, it's just a few minutes' walk to Huacheng Square, where you can see Guangzhou's landmark building, the "Little Waist" (Canton Tower). It's especially spectacular when the lights come on at night.
Plus, the transportation around is very convenient, with a subway station nearby, making it easy to get anywhere you want.

๐ Wellness facilities that let you fully relax
The hotel's wellness facilities really impressed me. The gym is fully equipped and the environment is excellent, making every workout very motivating.
What I liked most was their swimming pool, which is very stylishly designed and the water temperature is just right. After swimming, I felt completely refreshed. Also, the spa center is amazingโI had a full-body massage, and the therapist's technique was very professional. After the session, I felt like every cell in my body was awakened, and I was much more relaxed.
๐Check-in experience, where details show true quality
When I checked in, the front desk staff were very warm and handled the check-in process quickly.
The room's decor is very stylish, with every detail showing exquisite taste. The bed is super comfortable, like lying on a cloud. Plus, the room has an amazing viewโjust open the curtains and you can see the vibrant cityscape outside.
What impressed me most was the little surprises the hotel prepared, like complimentary snacks and drinks in the room, along with some special decorations.
These small touches made me feel very cared for.
๐ A little story that warms the heart
One night, I came back quite late and found the hotel lobby still lit. The front desk staff saw me and immediately greeted me with a smile. I chatted with them for a bit, and they were not impatient at all; instead, they introduced me to some great nearby night spots. This warm feeling made me feel right at home here.
๐Tips to make vour experience even better
Finally, here are some tips to share. The hotel's breakfast has a wide variety, so be sure to go early, or the good stuff will be gone.
Also, there are many great restaurants around the hotel, but if you don't want to go out, the hotel's own restaurant is worth trying โthe food and atmosphere are both excellent. Additionally, the hotel hosts various events, sometimes music performances or art exhibitions. You can follow the hotel's official account to get advance info on activities.
In short, W Guangzhou Hotel is truly an unforgettable place. Whether it's the wellness facilities, the check-in experience, or the surrounding environment, I was very satisfied.
Next time I have the chance, I will definitely come back!
