Whether you would like to address skin concerns like stretch marks, or cellulite, or you’re simply wishing your skin was more supple and hydrated, we’ll fill you in on how to tend to your skin and why we opt for organic options when possible.
So, what exactly is organic skin care?
We get it — the term organic often brings a "bouji" image to mind. The concept of using organic ingredients is actually pretty simple though, and we're here to bring it back to the basics. In skin care, organic means that as few as possible artificial colorants, fragrances, or preservatives are used.
Our favorite organic skin care line, Eminence Organics, boasts of their products: “We believe in providing the best skin care products possible. Our products are proudly free of parabens, animal by-products, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfates, harmful colorants and fragrances, mineral oils, petroleum, and other harsh cosmetic chemicals.” They continue— “As an alternative to harsh pesticides, the farm uses herbal teas and plant friendly honey traps from local bees as natural insect repellents ensuring that all Biodynamic® ingredients are farmed as naturally as possible.”
So, why does this all matter anyway? The skin is our largest organ, and it absorbs all that we put onto it — chemicals that our bodies don't know how to process, and all. This is why more and more consumers are choosing organic skincare when feasible.
Treating stretch marks
Stretch marks are a type of scar formed from the skin stretching or tightening in a short time frame. These pesky marks can be frustrating and are often difficult to treat. The younger stretch marks are, the more effective treatments tend to be, so it’s best to treat them right away. Eminence Stone Crop Body Oil is a miracle product for treating stretch marks. This is a lightweight body oil, but it’s known as a heavy hitter in the beauty industry. Stone Crop is rich in antioxidants to smooth skin, and is known for its soothing, brightening, and anti-inflammatory properties. Other ingredients include rosehip oil, avocado oil, Indian gooseberry oil, and arnica to brighten, tone, heal, and soften the skin while fading stretch marks.
Treating dry skin
Dry skin can be caused by a variety of factors—including living in a dry climate, change in temperature, lack of topical moisturizers, and of course—our least favorite culprit: genetics.
One of our all-time favorite ways to treat dry skin is to incorporate Eminence’s Apricot Body Oil, because it leaves the skin hydrated, supple, and glowing. This award-winning oil is noted as a favorite by Vogue, Elle, and Marie Claire. After using it, we can absolutely see why! Oils derived from pomegranate, (which contain antioxidant levels higher than green tea) apricot kernel (high in Vitamin A, C, and E), grape seed, and jojoba, leave the skin seriously radiant. For soft, supple skin, warm this oil in your hands and apply to the skin, or add two capsules to your bath for an out-of-this-world soak.
Treating cellulite
If you're dealing with cellulite, we urge you, beauty, do not beat yourself up. Did you know 80-90% of women might experience cellulite during their life? Cellulite is an uneven texture on the skin, most often on the thighs and tummy. These indentations on the skin can be a skin concern for all body types.
Effective cellulite treatments can be hard to find, which is why we were so excited to experience the effective results of Eminence Stone Crop Contouring Body Cream. This stuff is seriously concentrated to ensure real results. Coffee and microalgae extracts stimulate, tighten, and tone, while stonecrop and shea butter (high in fatty acids,) heal dry skin. Formulated with caffeine to rid the skin of cellulite, this body cream truly delivers! For best results, use after lightly exfoliating.
Treating aging skin
Environment and lifestyle can easily contribute to aged skin. To turn back the clock, spice up your routine with Eminence Eminence Cinnamon Paprika Body Lotion. This spicy treatment is hot, hot, hot — formulated to increase blood flow to leave the skin feeling detoxified. Cinnamon and paprika invigorate and revitalize the skin, while carrot and calendula nourish and hydrate. For those that want to gradually incorporate this stimulating treatment, it can be diluted with water for a more mild sensation.

Self-isolation and limited access to spa services have most of us finding the little things we used to think nothing of, suddenly feeling decadent and out of reach. One thing we skincare enthusiasts are missing most: facials. If you're feeling trapped under untreated skin, fear not. We're here to walk you through a professional grade facial from home.
While we certainly don't advise diving into the deep end of extreme esthetic services, like exposing your skin to harsh chemicals or aggressive professional tools, treating yourself to a facial at home might be just the ticket. The same way you might clean up your brows if they are feeling out of control, or touch up your nail polish, an effective at-home facial is doable—and we'll tell you step-by-step how to do it.

Tips for prepping for your facial:
•Use a microfiber headband to tuck your hair back and out of your way.
•If you prefer steam towels during your facial, use a sanitized crockpot to substitute a towel warmer that your esthetician would use. Be sure to test the heat of the steam towel before applying it to your face.
•A double cleanse is important. The first cleanse is to remove makeup, the second cleanse is to remove impurities, and dead skin cells. Do not use any of the second cleanse options on broken or abraded skin.
•If your skin has been thoroughly introduced to exfoliants, rather than using an oil-based cleanser for your first cleanse, use a makeup remover, then cleanse twice with your preferred concentrated cleanser for truly noticeable results.
•The ideal time for a facial is at night, during the time your skin is resting and can best absorb the products. So go ahead and relax after your at-home facial. After all, stressed-out skin contributes to just about all pesky skin concerns.

In all honesty, living with acneic skin can be downright agonizing. Read on for our step-by-step regimen and break up with your breakouts.
First Cleanse:
Start with Dermalogica's Precleanse. Although it might seem a little strange to use an oil based cleanser, just remember that oil attracts oil, meaning this cleanser really grabs on to and draws out unwanted oils and debris.
Dispense into dry hands. Massage over dry face and eyes to dissolve surface oil and dirt. Concentrate on areas of congestion or stubborn debris. Then, wet hands and continue massaging to create a light, milky emulsion. Rinse with lukewarm water.
Second Cleanse:
For a deep cleansing, yet balancing face wash, Dermalogica's Breakout Clearing Wash is an industry fave and a perfect second cleanse choice. Potent ingredients like salicylic acid and tea tree rid the skin of debris and excess oil, while lavender, and Camellia Sinensis calm inflammation. Lather a small amount in damp hands and apply. Rinse thoroughly with warm water.
Tone:
Apply Dermalogica's Multi-Active Toner for a light facial toner to hydrate, refresh, and prep the skin to absorb moisturizer.
Acneic skin often means inflamed skin, so if you prefer a more soothing toner, opt for Dermalogica's Ultracalming Mist to relieve and restore skin while fighting future flare-ups.
Spot Treat:
Apply Dermalogica's Clear Start Breakout Clearing Booster directly to a blemish or breakout area, or apply a thin layer all over the face under moisturizer for breakout prevention. Only use as needed. It's easy to get carried away with unwanted breakouts, however using too much of an acne product, or using it too often can dehydrate your skin, which will cause your body to produce excess oil in that area—the last thing you want when looking to clear up a breakout.
Moisturize:
Having acneic skin often means an excess of oil in the skin, making moisturizers one of the most confusing products for this skin type. Dermalogica's Clear Start Hydrating lotion is lightweight, but hydrating because it contains hyaluronic acid—making it a perfectly balanced moisturizer for acneic skin.
A few pro tips to avoid breakouts:
Make sure your cell phone and pillowcase are clean at all times. (This may sound obvious, but let's face it—cleaning these items tends to get overlooked. Sweat, oil, and debris left on these surfaces are serious triggers for breakouts.)
Look into if dairy or sugar are causing breakouts. There is a scientific link between dairy and sugar contributing to acne.
For a clearing boost, use your favorite clearing mask once a week.
Don't be too hard on yourself. It's ok to have acne, and advancements in professional-grade products are making it easier and easier to keep breakouts at bay.

Hair damage can be caused by so many factors that sometimes a visit to the salon can feel excessive. Good news—you can easily address mildly damaged hair from the comfort of your home with a conditioning mask. Adding a deep conditioning treatment means adding a few more products than you would use for your basic daily wash but will leave your hair smoother, shiner, and healthier.
Knowing what order to use each product in, and why can feel daunting. Read on for a step-by-step guide to a Bumble & Bumble deep conditioning treatment from home.
Start with your clarifying shampoo.
First thing's first—you'll want to make sure your mask will actually be absorbed, rather than just sit on top of your hair. For squeaky clean strands, Bumble & Bumble's Sunday Shampoo lifts away product build-up, excess oil, and pollutants, leaving hair prepped to soak up the nutrients.
Perform your second cleanse.
Work a quarter-sized amount of Bumble's Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Shampoo between hands, massage into scalp, and rinse. You might notice a lack of suds. Formulated to cleanse the hair without stripping, this shampoo is sulfate-free, so it won't produce tons of bubbles.
Apply your hair mask.
Thicker in consistency and meant to be left in longer, masks are essentially conditioner on steroids. How much to apply will vary on your hair type. You'll want to use enough to saturate, but there's no need to smother your hair.
After shampooing, ring your hair out to remove as much excess water as possible and apply Bumble's Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Mask. Leave on 3-5 minutes, then rinse. If your hair is extra dry, this mask can be left on for up to 20 minutes.
Apply your conditioner.
After you've rinsed the mask from your hair, ring out the excess water from your hair and apply Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Conditioner. Let your conditioner sit for 1-2 minutes and rinse thoroughly. It might seem counterintuitive to use the mask before conditioner, but it's done for a good reason. Conditioner seals the hair cuticle, locking in the nutrients that your mask deposited.
