People say: An Apple a day keeps a doctor away. That means if you want to be healthy, you need to eat good food. But it’s not a secret for us, that sport is also very important for our health.

So how do we have to do sport to stay healthy. First of all sport will help us to keep fit. Morning exercises, swimming-pool, jogging, stretching and gym will definitely help you to save your skin young and body strong.

Also all these exercises will keep you in good health. Regular morning exercises will concentrate your energy for the whole day. I am doing my exercises almost every day and believe me it works.

Another important thing is to get enough fresh air. While we are doing sport especially outside, we are getting enough of fresh air. Our brain will get oxygen what also gives power and energy to the whole body.

I recommend to do sport regularly. Don’t wait when you start to feel bad. Don’t do it because it’s fashionable now. It’s important to do sport because you want to do it. Somebody likes to run, someone prefers swimming. I would recommend to do different things. Of course, swimming will help you to burn a lot of calories and keep fit.

People who really care about their health don’t smoke, drink alcohol or take drugs. Sport is their drug.

It is better to start to do sport as early as possible. It’s good to have a trainer who can explain you how to do everything correct. Try to explain him what exactly you want: nice body, strong belly or legs. Don’t forget to mention about all diseases you have. It’s very important. After all if you start to do exercises regularly and correct you will see your life will change a lot.

It’s difficult to understand how much sport is important while we are teenagers. But it’s really so.

I think everybody knows that education is necessary to be successful in our life. I would like to work in the field of physical culture and sports in future and to become a professional sportsman and a basketball coach. To get my profession I need a university graduation. So after finishing school I passed the entrance exams and entered Chuvash State Pedagogical University, the faculty of physical education. It will be a long course – five years of hard and constant studies: lectures, seminars, practical classes and test periods. The academic year lasts for 10 months and there are vacations twice a year: in winter and summer. I feel proud of my faculty as among its graduates are the winners of many Olympic games and the world champions.

The University is very old, it was founded in 1930 in the centre of the capital of Chuvash Republic – Cheboksary city. It was named for the talented Chuvash teacher Ivan Yakovlev. The establishment has developed rapidly since then, now it has become one of the largest universities of Russia. Today it gives students an opportunity to choose higher and post-graduate educational programs for 42 professions. The education is provided by qualified specialists, professors and doctors. There are 12 full-time faculties at the University which enroll more than 6000 students. There are the faculties of Music and Art, Foreign languages, Psychology, Science, History and Philology, Pre-school education and many others. The University includes 6 academic buildings with spacious classrooms, a modern library, a reading-room, well-equipped laboratories and workshops, computer rooms, gymnasiums and dining-rooms.

I’m sure that studying at Chuvash State Pedagogical University will give me much knowledge, in theory and practice, and prepare me for effective and interesting work.

Modern life is very chaotic and stressful. That’s why we should keep to a healthy lifestyle in order not to get depressed and not to feel bad. A healthy lifestyle consists of active mode of life, healthy diet, avoiding stress and absence of bad habits.

If you are active, you feel better. You may go to a gym or a swimming pool, do some other sport or simply walk more. Sport is a good way to reduce stress and improve your state of health. It is also possible to exercise or walk with someone. If you train with friends, you will enjoy yourself even more.

A diet is also very important. You should eat regularly and choose fresh and healthy food. It is essential to eat enough fruit, vegetables, and meat. Don’t eat too much sugar or consume sweet fizzy drinks. Sugar affects your heart and can’t fill you for a long time.

Finally, you should try to avoid stress or at least take it easy and don’t be too nervous. Nervousness has a negative impact on our health and causes many diseases. So do the bad habits. Smoking and drinking too much alcohol can be very harmful.

Thus, it is not so difficult to lead a healthy life. It may become your good habit. As soon as you improve your quality of life, regulate your diet and physical exercises, you will see good results and feel yourself much better. You won’t have an idea of returning to your previous lifestyle anymore.

Our health depends on many things: our physical activity, the food we eat and our good and bad habits. Although a lot of people are interested in staying healthy, not many people do very much about it. Modern way of life when people have little physical activity, use cars instead of walking, watch television and work on computers for many hours is quite dangerous for their health. People’s health also influences their mood.

There are many opportunities to stay healthy and be fit and one of them is going in for sports. But you needn’t be a professional sportsman. Just simple regular exercises give you energy and help you feel and look better.

Exercises that involve repeated movements such as are walking, jogging or swimming are the best. Bending and stretching which are practiced in aerobics or yoga make your body flexible and light. The cheapest and most popular sport is jogging. If you don’t have time for it, make small changes like using stairs instead of the lift or walking or cycling instead of taking the bus and it can help you to improve your health and make you a more active person.

Also it is very important to get rid of bad habits. The worst ones are smoking and drinking alcohol. Smoking doesn’t only causes heart and lung problems but also makes your teeth yellow and skin unhealthy.

Due to medical research, this type of food shortens our life, it leads to obesity, heart and blood vessels diseases, diabetes, gastric problems and lots of other serious ailments. To prevent all these problems we should enjoy well-balanced home-made meals with a lot of organic fruits, vegetables, dairy products, grains and seafood. We are what we eat.

Keeping fit and going in for sports is also important for our health. Lack of exercise in our life is a serious problem. In big cities people spend hours sitting in front of computers, TV-sets and other gadgets. We walk less because we mainly use cars and public transport. We certainly don’t have to be professional sportsmen, but we should visit fitness clubs, go jogging, walk much, swim, go cycling or roller-skating or just dance. Doctors say that regular moderate physical activity is necessary for our body because it protects us from strokes and heart diseases, flue and obesity.

Dear Friend

I'm really interested in astronomy and space - I want to become an astronaut. When I was in London some weeks ago, I had the best day in my life. I met Helen Sharman, the first British astronaut. She gave a talk in London. After the talk my mum asked the steward and he allowed me to meet Helen Sharman. She was really nice and I got her autograph. When I went home, I wrote a letter to her.
