25 years ago today, I was an Emergency Room nurse in New York, and I will never forget the overwhelming feeling of loss, sadness, and helplessness that surrounded that day and the days that followed. As a nurse, all I wanted was to help—to do more, to care for anyone who could have survived and needed us. Those feelings have never left me.

Today, I remember every life that was lost, every family forever changed, and every incredible hero who ran toward danger when others were running away. To our firefighters, police officers, EMTs, nurses, doctors, first responders, volunteers, and every person who stepped forward to help—thank you. Your courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

You are always in my thoughts and forever in my heart. 🇺🇸❤️
