I’m so proud to announce that I placed Top 50 in Hair Color Shot and Top 100 in Color Blocking for this years OneShot Global Hair Awards! This is especially a big deal for me because I’ve NEVER placed in a Big Shot category before. For those unfamiliar with how this competition works, the “___ shot” or “Big Shot” categories are where the cream of the crop place, the fancy stylists that have photographers, reserved studios, makeup artists etc. that make it. Almost never an everyday hairstylist like myself.
I know competitions or even just this competition in particular puts a sour taste in some people’s mouths, which I can totally understand. Putting your work up to be judged is scary, vulnerable and sometimes feels unfair if you don’t nominated. As someone who judged her first competition last year, I can tell you it’s not an easy task to decide who “deserves” to be nominated or not. It’s almost heartbreaking actually. The smallest things can make or break your chances at getting nominated. Whether it’s one tiny hair out of place or the lighting wasn’t as good as the others. When it really comes down to it, it’s all about the photo, not you as a hairstylist.
So if you didn’t get nominated this year or just simply didn’t get in the categories you wished for, don’t beat yourself up. Use this as fuel for next year. Learn from who did make it to where you wanted to be.
Congratulations to those who got nominated ❤️ and to those of you who didn’t but tried anyway, you’re already miles ahead of those who didn’t dare to try.

Listen, my appointments are LONG, therefore a huge energetic investment on my part. Masking all day everyday will destroy anyone over time. I am at the point in my career where I can prioritize peace over profit. I refuse to dilute myself to be more palatable to anyone, even people that pay me.
