For those operating from home, you can literally stay busy hunting parks all weekend! Activity from the ship automatically counts for POTA, as we upload the station log regularly to POTA.app.

Parks on the Air® Summer Support Your Parks Weekend is July 18–19!

Held on the third full weekend of July (Saturday & Sunday UTC), this seasonal activity weekend is all about getting outside, enjoying our beautiful parks, making contacts, and having fun on the air.

It’s the perfect opportunity to get out together with your club or friends, invite someone new to experience POTA, and share the hobby while enjoying a day in the park.

RAWNY and CARS members enjoyed a beautiful day Saturday joining the monthly ham radio breakfast in Olean, visiting the Eldred WWII Museum, Zippo/Case Museum and another great meal at Beefeaters! A few of us also activated Parks on The Air (POTA) from Stone Tower at Allegany State Park.

Our logs for W2D (Whiskey Two Ducks) have been uploaded to Parks On The Air (POTA). After removing dupes, we made 863 contacts over the three days! We had a small 6 meter opening, that allowed us to make 15 CW contacts to Florida.

We were expecting “two ducks”: Mama Duck and her duckling Timmy. We didn’t hear any explanation, but instead of Timmy, there were three other colorful 10ft ducks.

Either way, the ducks were a big hit with kids of all ages, if you missed it in person, maybe you noticed it on the news or social media, which is full of duck selfies. The entire Canalside had a fun energy all weekend, and we enjoyed sharing it over the radio, too.
