What an experience-The Marine Corps Marathon or “The Peoples Marathon”!
•
I can finally say I am part of the 0.05% who are “marathoners”. Thank you to all my friends who provided a song for my playlist, you truly got me through the 26.2 miles. When it was difficult to keep my legs moving for myself, I kept moving to each and every one of your songs.
•
It has been one of the most challenging seasons of my life thus far and running has truly saved me. It has been a place of solitude, to sort out my thoughts and work through all my big feelings. We can only cope by numbing for so long. I ran through the pain and somewhere in the pain I found peace. As Robin Arzon states-“turning pain into power” and “movement metabolizes the bull$h!t of life”

Did you know that after 60-90 minutes of running you are served a cocktail of endorphins-dopamine, serotonin, and endocannabinoids?!
•
These magical neurotransmitters cross the blood brain barrier and interact with the reward system of the brain. These “happy hormones” alleviate physical pain and mental anguish. Endorphins are our bodies natural pain killer.
