Practice Makes Perfect🌟
This kinesio taping technique is used significantly ⬇️ wrist pain while weight-bearing. KT tape is used to boost the pisiform.
📍 Note: the pisiform is the only sesamoid carpal bone in the wrist allowing it to move freely. Boosting (or decreasing a subluxation) the pisiform helps to align the wrist and ⬇️ pain. 😊👍🏻

😩 A consecutive back and forward walkover tumble pass did not go as planned resulting in a right wrist fracture Friday night! Fabricated a splint over the weekend to support the fracture until the cast was put in place today.👍🏻🤸‍♂️😊

Monday Mirror Box Therapy!
Nerve laceration patient has injured hand in the box and is watching the reflection of healthy hand as both attempt to perform the same movements. Method is used to fool the brain into allowing the injured hand to move similarly as the healthy hand.
Although oftentimes used in therapy to reprogram the brain to label a pain signal as nonpainful, in this instance we are using the mirror box to encourage movement due to a lack of sensation.🪞🖐😊

Welcome Mona! We are excited to announce that Mona Elsayed has joined our clinic!🎉👏
Mona is a registered/licensed OT who graduated from Howard University in 2019. She developed her interest in hand therapy while completing her capstone research on upper extremity recovery. She also helped advocate for patient’s rights to outpatient care and coverage.

As a therapist, Mona makes each patient’s goals her top priority and appreciates the structure and distinct treatment approaches that hand therapy provides in helping patients regain function.

Mona plans on pursuing her CHT in the future and looks forward to treating our patients in her journey! 😊👋🎉

Welcome Jolene!👋 We are excited to announce that Jolene A.M. Schneider, MOTR/L, CHT has joined our staff!

Jolene graduated in 1999 from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with her Masters of Occupational Therapy. She was certified in Functional Ergonomics and ASTYM; she became a Certified Hand Therapist in 2014.

Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to work on both the east and west coasts in clinics and alongside hand surgeons in private practices. Jolene has always had an appreciation and respect for the intricate machinery that is our bodies, in particular the hands. She has a passion for helping others regain their ability to perform activities that they once enjoyed, and strives to create a relaxed, lighthearted therapeutic environment. 🖐😊🌟

It’s Electric!⚡️Electrical muscle stimulation of the triceps to ⬆️ elbow extension & tricep strength. The dumbbell assists w/ extension and patient is standing at the wall to provide proprioceptive input into the elbow to maximize results.💪💡😊
