We buried my Papa three years ago today. Not a very funny April fools joke.

He did have a laugh that could get everyone around him laughing… just at hearing him so tickled. 😂

He was a remarkably unique character… Giving me a remarkably unique childhood.

Because of him I know what it’s like to live on a boat, to watch fireworks reflect off the water while dolphins play, to stand on the aft deck and giggle with the wind and sea spray.

Because of him I know what it’s like to live with an outhouse, to fetch water from a spring and to eat fresh bread baked in a mud oven… Built by him by hand…

Because of him I am enamored by color, I am fascinated by design and able to see the world in a slightly quirky way.

Because of him I can find humor in life’s challenging moments. A skill I have needed a lot in my life, particular this last year.

Forever grateful I was your daughter…

I have Stage 4 , and
in 2011, I needed to have a hysterectomy. Fortunately, I was able to have it done at the in
The allowed me to have extensive surgery without a full abdominal cut; requiring much less recovery time.
You can see five small incisions around my abdomen... one in my belly button (where the camera goes in for the doctors to see what they’re doing) and two on either side. I was informed that the endometrial tissue was spread so extensively throughout my abdominal cavity, the surgeon had to “stretch the limits” of those incisions 🤢
Apparently the surgery was quite fascinating... I’ve had other doctors read my file with great enthusiasm 😏
Many of my organs had to be SCRAPED (and a few removed) and I have complications from the scar tissue, but I still consider myself very lucky 🍀
I got the best care I could get at the time.
This disease has been overlooked for far too long. Thank you to all the young out there for shining a light on what has been hidden for so long

I believe my first interaction with these two super humans was in the DMs. The conversation centered on people who decide to litter and trash our natural spaces. They got an earful via voice memo on just how much I dislike people dropping trash, or worse HIDING TRASH (🤬 y’all know you’re being sh*ts!)… they weren’t scared off at my rantings fortunately 😂
