COD LIVER OIL
What is cod liver oil? & Why should I ask my doctor about adding it to my regime?
Cod liver oil is a rich source of natural DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) and EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) omega-3 fatty acids which support your immune system, heart, brain, and may help with blood pressure health and regulating inflammation.
Additionally, cod liver oil is a good NATURAL SOURCE of Vitamin A, which protects eyes from NIGHT BLINDNESS and age related decline, supports a healthy immune system, supports bone health, reduces the risk of acne, may lower your risk of CERTAIN cancers, and more.
It's also a good NATURAL SOURCE of Vitamin D, which has several important functions. Perhaps the most vital are regulating the absorption of calcium and phosphorus and facilitating normal immune system function. Getting enough Vitamin D is important for typical growth and development of bones and teeth, as well as improved resistance to CERTAIN diseases.
********IMPORTANT INFORMATION******** You NEED your cod liver oil sourced completely from wild caught cod with no additives or synthetic vitamins.
The cod liver oil SHOULD be certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), the world’s top certification standard for wild-caught, sustainable seafood.
WHAT IS INSULIN?
Insulin is the most important hormone. It is produced by the pancreas and removes excess sugar in the blood. This is just one of its many functions. It also creates cholesterol and triglycerides. Insulin behaves like a KEY in the body.
We have 2.5 gallons of blood in our body. If you have more than 1 teaspoon of sugar in your blood, which most people do, then insulin will remove that. Normal blood sugar is 80mg/dL (per deciliter). Where does your body put it? It's going to put it first in what's called stored sugars, known as glycogen. That's in the liver and then in the muscles. It's kind of like a reserve of fuel that you can tap into between meals. Your body can only store 1700 calories of sugar. Most people consume more than this in one day.
So where does the body store the rest? The body store the excess as fat. The capacity to store fat is greater than sugar. You can store hundreds of thousands of calories in fat throughout the body, it's almost unlimited. 😳
Healthy fat is our main fuel source to run on because it allows us to survive between meals. Unfortunately, nowadays we don't tap into this reserves because there is so much available food.
Key Points:
▪︎Excess sugar is stored in the liver
▪︎Too much sugar is stored as fat
▪︎Insulin creates cholesterol
▪︎Insulin spikes block fat burning
▪︎The key to burning fat is lowering insulin

3 WEIRD SYMPTOMS OF A FATTY LIVER
When you have a fatty liver you lose the capacity of the liver to function.
HEART PAIN
One of the weird symptoms would be heart pain. You wouldn't think heart pain is associated with the liver but when you actually have fat in the liver (Fatty Liver Disease) and even cirrhosis, the liver starts to enlarge to a certain degree.
If you are having heart symptoms and the doctor tells you your heart is fine, REQUEST they complete a blood test called Liver Function Test (LFT) and/or a Fibroscan. Fibroscan is an ultrasound that assess for fatty liver, scar tissue, or fibrosis.
There's not a lot of space where your liver is located so it can compress over to the heart. Especially if you are laying on your left side. Because the liver is on the right side and the heart is on the left side, when you lie down it can compress on the heart. If you have this problem sleep on your right side. But get your liver tested.
GYNECOMASTIA
Man b***s. Liver is unable to filter out excessive amounts of estrogen. Another symptom of excess estrogen are spider veins.
NIGHT BLINDNESS
This is a vitamin A deficiency. The liver is not making enough bile. The gall bladder stores the bile. And if you don't have enough bile you can't absorb vitamin A (retinol). Your vision in general is affected if you have a vitamin A deficiency.
Other symptoms of a FATTY LIVER:
High Cholesterol
Decreased Bile (breaks down Cholesterol)
Belly fat
Diabetes
Fatigue
Right shoulder pain, neck, jaw, back of trap, right of the midline of spine, right rhomboid
Itching (bottom of feet/palms of hands)
Confusion/Irritability
Bad breath
DID YOU KNOW?
Liver disease is very common
In the US, approximately 30 million people have some form of liver disease. More than 8000 people in the US received liver transplants in 2017, and more than 17000 people are on the waiting list for a liver transplant.

Liver Health & Why It's Important
To emphasize its importance, the liver is the SECOND LARGEST ORGAN in the body (the skin is the largest) and one of its primary functions is to FLUSH OUT TOXINS that can be harmful to us. Many other important functions include:
Making blood proteins that aid in clotting, transporting oxygen and supporting the immune system. Lipo proteins which carry cholesterol, as in LDL & HDL.
Manufacturing bile, a substance needed to help break down fats and pull out the necessary fat soluble vitamins and essential fatty acids, the necessary elements from our food for nutrients.
It makes new glucose from fat or protein. Helping the body store sugar (glucose) in the form of glycogen.
Helps us detoxify harmful substances in the bloodstream, including chemicals, poisons, drugs and alcohol. There are certain enzymes called phase 1 & phase 2 detoxification, where you're turning fat soluble toxic poisons into water soluble harmless particles so the body can get rid of them.
Breaking down saturated fat and producing cholesterol, like 1000mg per day.
It helps buffer excessive hormones. So for example, if there is too much estrogen it can help regulate that. If there is too much cortisol it can help degrade it so you don't have excessive amounts.

Cauliflower
This versatile veggie is delicious in many ways beyond steaming. Try roasting florets or “steaks” of cauliflower to release its pleasant flavor. When pureed, it’s a great substitute to cream sauce. Other creative cauliflower options? Mash into a pizza crust, grate it into a substitute for rice or pickle it for a low-calorie salty, crunchy snack

DID YOU KNOW
Cruciferous veggies are a diverse group that includes broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, bok choy, arugula, Brussels sprouts, collards, watercress and radishes.
While these veggies grow in all different colors, shapes and sizes, they share several nutritional benefits. Most cruciferous vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals such as folate and vitamin K. Dark green cruciferous veggies also are a source of vitamins A and C and contain phytonutrients — plant-based compounds that may help to lower inflammation and reduce the risk of developing cancer. Cruciferous vegetables also are rich in fiber and low in calories, a combination that will help you feel full and satisfied without overeating.
It doesn’t take much to reap the benefits. Adults need at least 2½ cups of vegetables a day. One cup of raw and cooked veggies, such as broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts, is equivalent to a 1-cup vegetable serving. Two cups of raw leafy vegetables, such as kale and bok choy, are the equivalent of a 1-cup vegetable serving.
Fun fact: The name “cruciferous” is an informal classification for members of the mustard family and comes from the Latin cruciferae meaning “cross bearing,” because the four petals resemble a cross.
