Long Pause... This is a deep one, but I would have to say we begin with self. Self-care, Self-love, and Self-esteem are vital components that help to shape the way we think of and view ourselves.
•Self-care routines should always includ, at minimum, a bi-monthly trip visit to your natural hair stylist. These appointments should include regular maintenance services such as shampoo, deep conditioner, trim, etc... even if you choose to get no style.
•Self-love begins with stripping ourselves of all vain enhancements like hair extensions, lash extensions, and make-up. This will give us an opportunity to see ourselves as who we truly are. When you get "naked" it might take some time to become comfortable with what you see, but doing this will help you appreciate yourself at the most basic level.
•Self-esteem begins to develop long before we ever know about how society feels. Our Self-esteem has been and continues to be shaped and molded it by our childhood and experiences. I believe if we can make a conscious effort to reshape how we think and see ourselves, then we can build our self esteem .
>MYTH: You don't need a stylist if you have natural hair. You can do it yourself.
>FACT: It's very important to see a stylist regularly, relaxed or natural, so that you can get maintenance services and also have someone to share your questions and concerns with.
As we continue to do the work on the inside AND outside of ourselves it will be easier to feel confident in society.
