If I can describe her in one word, I’ll say- Happy❤️
Iri Ji Ohuru (New Yam Festival)
I remember when I was growing up, every September, my family will drive down to the village for a few days to go celebrate the new yam festival❤️. It was such a lovely experience filled with laughter, family gatherings and lots and lots of masquerades😍.
On the D-day, everyone gathers na Obi eze (the King’s palace), where the new yam is celebrated, thanking God for a good farming season, while praying for another good farming year🙏🏾. The yam is cut, everyone eats in joy and then head to their respective homes to continue the celebration.
Sadly, not many villages still celebrate this. I’m glad mine still does and I hope it continues. Igbo ga-adi!

Someone asked, what parental moment do you live for?
I live for the moment my kids start jamming along to afrobeats in the car! It’s a special kind of warmth + inexplainable joy🥰. Start them young! For the culture✊🏾
