H- For thick or wavy hair: 455F

5. Put a handful of dry hair between the 2 clamping plates, close the handle, and move slowly and gently from hair root to the end. Always make sure to keep the thickness of the hair around 5mm and width no more than 1/3 of the plate.

The ceramic plates of your hair straightener can harbor dust and dirt as well as the dead skin cells and bacteria. But with a simple cleansing regime, you can banish the bad stuff and make it sparkling clean.
When your flat iron is completely cool, clean the plates using a soft cloth with neutral detergent. Once finished, wipe down the entire flat iron using a cloth.
Do not use corrosive chemical cleaning products, such as: thinner, gas etc. and never soak the hair straightener into the water.
