Welcome back to where I will give tips, tricks, and let you pick my brain a little about my creative process when it comes to braiding.
So when is it really a good time to get braids?

1. When You Want To Retain Length
I don’t know who needs to hear this but the best way to retain hair length to LEAVE IT ALONE! Protective styles are perfect and specifically made for this exact reason. When you manipulate your hair too much it’s prone to break easily.
2. During Dry Season
Dry seasons differ for everyone because porosity levels. Some may be able to retain moisture better in the Winter season v. Summer and vice versa. Nevertheless, if you feel your hair getting extra dry, it’s time to get a protective style.
3. Lifestyle Changes
This is a big one! If you know in your life right now you don’t even want to think about your hair for the next 4-6 weeks, then DON’T. Get a protective style, sis.

The first topic I want to tackle are KNOTLESS BRAIDS because as you can see from my page, I do them a lot lol.

1. They take too long
Look, almost every client has come in my chair with a horror story of why they are scared to get the size they really want because of how long it takes. The main issue I see a lot of Braiders having is simply being unprepared. They don’t prep the hair, they don’t trust their pre-part method, and end wasting time because of it. Now someone like me who’s worked in a traditional African braiding salon since childhood, it’s so fast paced so I HAD to come up with a system that allows me to get done w/o the burnout and it’s definitely not the same as everyone does on Instagram. When the girlies come to me and see that I start from the front of the head then the back they were shooketh ok 🤣 You have to find what works best for YOU and stick by it.
2. They Don’t Last Long
If your Knotless braids don’t last at LEAST 4 weeks, check your grip and lessen the amount of product you are using. Too much product makes it harder to grip and weighs down the hair.
3. Only Certain Textures Can Get Knotless Braids
Man I be wanting to yell through my screen when I see stuff like this because it is sooooo INACCURATE. Any length, texture, or head size can get Knotless braids and yes it can still be full and lightweight. If you can’t braid certain textures again, check your grip and the products you are using.
