Mistake #5: Over-Exfoliation. Do you think you need to exfoliate everyday because your skin is so soft after? That was me! 🙈 Truth is over-exfoliation can cause the skin to purge!! Stick to just 1-2x a week max for a physical exfoliator.

Also remember.... stay away from these physical exfoliators when you have active acne. They can actually spread the bacteria in the acne around your face making your acne even worse. This means put your Crystal Ball Microdermabrasion Treatment down and pick up a chemical exfoliator (these are safe to use daily) like Fake ID, All Nighter or True Salvation instead.

Mistake #4: The water is too hot. Trust me, I know it’s tempting to make the water hot and steamy, but try your best to resist. Water that is too hot can burst capillaries, resulting in those sensitive red marks usually found around the nose and on cheeks. Water that is too hot can also irritate the skin by messing with its natural oil balance, causing dryness, or an excessive production of sebum, which, basically, is a nice word for oil. Summary? Stick with warm water, but make sure to rinse completely. Residuals from cleansers can also lead to dryness and breakouts.

Mistake #2: Not removing makeup before cleansing. The goal of skin cleansing is to clean out pores, right? Well, if makeup is in the way, good luck getting those pores to empty! Remove makeup with a gentle face cloth OR better yet use a gentle cleanser that easily removes makeup and then use your regular cleanser. You can also “double cleanse” once to remove your makeup and once to clean the skin deep! Tip: If you need a little extra help around the eye area, try using Easy Going - Gentle Crème Cleanser.
