My husband, Cortez, and I met almost nine years ago through mutual friends here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. We've been happily married for a little over three years now. Starting a family was really important to us, and we were thrilled to find out we were expecting our first daughter just a few months after tying the knot. When our daughter, Willimina Daisy, arrived, everyone said she looked just like her dad. So, when we found out we were having our second daughter, Valentina Janie, I joked that she would be my mini me. I never would have imagined she would be born with fair skin, auburn hair, and blue eyes, truly making her my mini me. Watching our girls grow up together and interact is the greatest gift ever. The only thing Willimina notices about her baby sister is her "big chunky cheeks." Do I worry about them growing up in this crazy world with "different skin colors?" Not at all. My husband and I will raise them the same way, treat them the same way, and, most importantly, love them the same way. Kids are colorblind, and love comes in every color of the rainbow. Genetics can be wild, and skin color doesn’t matter to kids. Love is love!

She’s a student juggling two jobs, but sadly, she couldn’t get financing for a car. She ended up in tears while a salesperson tried to comfort her. We all felt really bad, but there wasn’t much we could do.

After she left, the guy asked if we could help her. The salesperson said no and looked pretty upset about it. Then, the guy said, ‘Call her back, I’m giving her my trade-in.’ A few minutes later, she came back, and he signed over the title and handed her the keys. While he was in finance, she was in the car, crying tears of joy...” ❤
