Mane Frame Alignment
Structural Integration Specialist and Equine Massage Therapist
Yesterday marked Malibu's final session in her structural integration series, and the changes from our first appointment have been incredible to witness. Compared to where she started, Malibu is moving and presenting much more comfortably throughout her body.
This was a shorter maintenance-style session lasting approximately 40 minutes. Overall, Malibu felt balanced, and there were no major areas of restriction or compensation noted. Her owner reported that she has been noticeably softer and more flexible during both groundwork exercises and while being ridden, suggesting improved mobility and ease of movement.
During her session, I identified a few minor restrictions along Malibu's right side, specifically through the neck, shoulder, and barrel region, which responded well to the work. On the left side, Malibu released more significantly through the scapular region and lower neck. She appeared to greatly enjoy this area being addressed, often leaning into the contact and seeking more pressure as tension dissipated.
Throughout the entire session, Malibu remained calm, relaxed, and engaged in the process. Her ability to settle so easily and accept the work is a testament to the progress she has made over the course of this series.
It has been a privilege to work with Malibu and support her through this process. Watching horses become more comfortable, functional, and confident in their movement is one of the most rewarding aspects of this work. I look forward to seeing her continue to thrive as she carries these positive changes into her everyday activities and ridden work.

🐴 What If Your Horse's Performance Issues Aren't a Training Problem? 🐴
Sometimes stiffness, resistance, difficulty bending, shortened stride length, cross-firing, or recurring soreness aren't caused by a lack of training—they can be the result of restrictions within the body's connective tissue system.
At Mane Frame Alignment, I specialize in Equine Structural Integration, a form of bodywork that goes beyond traditional massage. While massage focuses primarily on muscles, Structural Integration works with the fascia—the connective tissue that surrounds and supports every muscle, tendon, ligament, and organ in the body.
When fascia becomes restricted, it can create tension patterns that affect how a horse moves, balances, and performs. By addressing these restrictions, Structural Integration helps the body find greater freedom, efficiency, and comfort in movement.
✨ Potential Benefits: • Improved flexibility and range of motion
• Better balance and body awareness
• Increased comfort under saddle
• Enhanced performance and recovery
• Reduced compensation patterns
• Greater ease of movement throughout the entire body
Whether your horse is a barrel racer, performance horse, trail partner, or pasture companion, every horse deserves to move comfortably and efficiently.
💙 Investment: • Individual Session — $150 • Full Structural Integration Series — $700 (Best value and recommended for lasting changes.)

"Balanced Bodies, Better Rides."
Today I had the opportunity to work with Ozzy in preparation for his upcoming barrel race this Thursday. His owner reached out after noticing that he wasn't performing at his usual level. She reported that he had been struggling with bending, wasn't moving as fluidly through his turns, and had been cross-firing during work.
Ozzy is a horse with a very big personality, which made this session especially interesting. He is naturally quite expressive with his mouth, so I had to pay close attention to distinguish his normal quirks from genuine release responses throughout the session.
Before beginning hands-on work, I performed a visual assessment and noticed that his right hip appeared to be sitting slightly higher than the left. This often indicates compensation patterns somewhere within the body and gave me a good starting point for understanding how he was moving.
I spent just over 90 minutes working with Ozzy. The majority of his restrictions and release responses were found on the left side of his body, which aligned closely with the concerns his owner had observed under saddle. He presented with significant tightness through both shoulders, with notable holding patterns in the left shoulder and sternum region. As work progressed, Ozzy offered several large releases, including licking, chewing, and even dramatically extending his tongue—clear signs that his nervous system was processing and releasing tension.
Additional restrictions were found throughout the left hindquarter, particularly within both the superficial and deeper gluteal muscle groups. By addressing these areas, Ozzy was able to release a substantial amount of stored tension and improve overall mobility through the hind end.
On the right side, I noted a localized area of tissue restriction above the shoulder. While working through the sternum and pectoral region, Ozzy repeatedly lifted his legs high, suggesting a significant release and increased freedom through the front end.
One of the most rewarding observations came at the end of the session. Upon reassessment, his hips appeared noticeably more level and balanced than they had at the start, indicating improved symmetry throughout his body.
Overall, Ozzy responded very well to the work. With improved mobility through his shoulders, sternum, and hindquarters, he should be better prepared to move comfortably and efficiently as he heads into his upcoming barrel race. I look forward to hearing how he feels and performs later this week.
This one keeps a professional tone while still highlighting Ozzy's unique personality and the specific changes you observed during the session.
Malibu's 4th Structural Integration Session
Saturday marked Malibu's fourth session in her Structural Integration series. This was a simple maintenance-focused session that lasted approximately 45 minutes.
Overall, Malibu continues to show excellent progress. I found very little tension throughout her body, which is a great indication that the previous sessions have helped improve her overall comfort and movement patterns. While there were no significant areas of restriction to address, I was able to encourage a few nice releases along her topline during the session.
As always, Malibu was a wonderful client. She stood quietly and relaxed throughout the entire appointment, looking so comfortable she was nearly asleep at times. Her calm demeanor and willingness to participate make her a pleasure to work with.
It's always rewarding to see a horse reach this stage in their series, where the body is holding changes well and requires less intensive work. I look forward to continuing to support Malibu's comfort, balance, and overall well-being as she progresses.

💡 "Isn't Equine Structural Integration just a fancy massage?"
Not quite.
While massage focuses primarily on relaxing muscles and increasing circulation, my work goes much deeper. Equine Structural Integration looks at the horse as a whole-body system. Every muscle, fascia, joint, and movement pattern is connected. When one area becomes restricted, the body often compensates elsewhere, creating strain, imbalance, and reduced performance.
Instead of simply working where a horse appears sore, I assess how tension patterns throughout the body may be contributing to the issue. By addressing restrictions within the fascial network and helping restore balance and mobility, we can improve comfort, movement efficiency, posture, and body awareness.
Think of it this way:
🐴 Massage asks, "Where is the tension?" 🐴 Structural Integration asks, "Why is the tension there in the first place?"
My goal isn't just temporary relief—it's helping your horse move more freely, comfortably, and efficiently from the ground up.
Whether your horse is a competitive athlete, a weekend trail partner, a young horse in training, or a retired companion, balanced movement matters.
