soft at first, then heavier,

I lower my head like the sky does,
trying to keep it all contained,
but even the smallest thought of you
breaks through anyway.

It’s strange how memory works—
how something so invisible
can carry so much weight,
can undo you in a single moment.

I don’t always cry,
but when I do,
it’s never just for now—
it’s for everything we were,
and everything we didn’t get to be.

And still, even in that ache,
I wouldn’t choose to forget you.

Because loving you,
even like this,
still matters more.
