RETURNING TUESDAY: BACKUS ROAD

I grew up on a winding dirt road—or, as we say, a “holler”—on Backus Mountain here in West Virginia. Most of my childhood was spent outdoors, and fall was always my favorite season. There’s a distinct shift in the air when autumn arrives: the breeze cools, the sky deepens, and the leaves catch fire in reds, oranges, and golds. You could stand outside for hours watching them spiral down, landing with soft, pattering knocks as if asking the earth to take them in. Fall in West Virginia is pure magic. If you’ve never experienced a country autumn, you’re missing something truly special.

This scent brings back so many memories. It’s a symphony of fall aromas and a walk through the wilderness of the country in the fall. It’s the realistic scent of spiraling leaves, crisp air, damp leaves, and moist earth from the thick forest. A hint of smoke from a nearby fireplace is subtle in this beautiful fragrance that will take you through a nature walk in the peak of autumn.

FALL REVEAL #15: CINNAMON BRÜLÉE

This one is for my cinnamon lovers out there...

Cinnamon Brûlée is the kind of scent that makes you want to slow down and stay a while. It starts with that perfect golden crackle of burnt sugar—like the top of a warm crème brûlée right out of the oven—then softens into a swirl of cinnamon sticks and creamy vanilla bean. A touch of rum melts through the middle, wrapping everything in a buttery, almost-huggable warmth.

It’s pure comfort: sweet, spicy, and welcoming all at once. The kind of fragrance that fills a room like a slow Sunday morning, makes the air feel a little softer, and leaves you thinking about thick blankets, woodsmoke, and something delicious baking in the kitchen.

FALL REVEAL #14: CABIN IN THE WOODS

I’m all about atmospheric scents, and this one is very realistic. It feels like something that’s been quietly waiting years for you to find it…

The air outside is cool and still, carrying the dry scent of fallen autumn leaves and a faint, distant woodsmoke. Tall trees press in close. When you push open the heavy wooden door, the interior wraps around you—the rich, aged smell of old timber beams and creamy sandalwood with the soft, lived-in warmth of a worn leather couch, and a quiet glow of dark amber.

It smells both isolated and refined at the same time. Like a place that has stood alone in the forest for decades, it's both comforting and just a little mysterious.

FALL REVEAL #13: AUTUMN MORN

An elevated take on Sweater Weather by B*W, this fragrance is like stepping into a dewy fall morning...

The air is cool and clean, carrying a soft, almost electric ozone freshness that only comes right after the night’s chill has lifted. Bright mint and green leaves mingle with the scent of ripe orchard crisp apple—juicy, true to the skin, and hanging heavy on the trees. FALL REVEAL #12: MAPLE TODDY

The windows look out over the mountains as the fire crackles and the air is filled with the rich, comforting smell of something warm and sweet...

This is not the same Hot Toddy I blended before. This is completely different. Where that one leaned heavy on the whiskey, Maple Toddy is cozier and less boozy—with maple as the star of the show. It starts with a light touch of apple and a gentle hint of warmth, then settles into a deep, authentic maple syrup that feels like it was just poured. Brown sugar notes and a soft creaminess round it out, while cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg add a quiet spice. Golden amber and smooth vanilla rest underneath, with just enough rum and butterscotch to give it that final layer of comfort without ever getting sharp or heavy.

FALL REVEAL #11: ALMOND PRALINE 🥜🍯🍂

This one is for my almond lovers out there...

Imagine stepping into a warm kitchen on a chilly autumn afternoon. A bowl of golden, glassy almond and pecan praline sits on the counter, still slightly warm, the caramelized sugar catching the soft light. Crushed almonds and toasted pecans are locked inside glossy amber shards, releasing a rich, nutty sweetness that fills the air.

This fragrance opens with bright, creamy almond, then deepens into maple-kissed praline and buttery caramel. Soft layers of buttercream and vanilla cookie notes wrap everything in pure bakery comfort, while a gentle burnt-sugar warmth lingers in the background.

FALL REVEAL #10: CURSED PUMPKIN 🎃

Deep in the shadowed woods, where mahogany and cedar stand like silent sentinels, a lone pumpkin rests. Its skin is dark, almost blackened by the shadows of the forest. A warm, unnatural glow pulses from within—spiced, buttery, and laced with something richer than simple autumn sweetness. This is no harvest decoration. This is Cursed Pumpkin.

The scent opens with the dark weight of ancient woods: mahogany, cedar, and the quiet spice of clove and nutmeg rising like mist from the forest floor. Then the pumpkin reveals itself—creamy and dense, swirled with caramel, toasted praline, and a slow drip of maple. Layers of buttercream and warm spices settle over the woods, wrapping the darkness in a rich, almost forbidden sweetness.

It smells like walking a leaf-strewn path under a blackening sky and finding something that should not be glowing. It's comforting yet slightly dangerous...warm, yet shadowed. This is fall at its most mysterious and enchanting.
