Favorite things ... what are some of your favorite things?

Are you afraid of the sun? Well, over 50% of the world’s population is actually deficient in vitamin D.

Why vitamin D? Because it’s extremely rare in food and, more importantly, it’s not found in sufficient amounts through diet alone. And when you consider that the sun is our main source of vitamin D, while millions of people are literally terrified of sunlight and cover themselves in sunscreen (which reduces your skin’s ability to produce vitamin D), it’s no surprise that half the world is deficient.

Sunscreen is supposed to protect us from the sun’s UV rays, but the synthetic sunscreens that most people use are probably doing more harm than good.

That’s because they contain ingredients like oxybenzone, homosalate, and octocrylene—known endocrine disruptors, with some classified as possible carcinogens.

The truth is, vitamin D3 isn’t just a vitamin. It’s actually an essential hormone that plays a role in nearly every aspect of your health.

☀️ Here’s how to raise your vitamin D levels and correct a deficiency (save this Reel 📌)

• Sun exposure: Try to get 10–20 minutes of midday sun several times a week, depending on your skin type and where you live.

• Nutrition: Eat foods naturally rich in vitamin D, such as fatty wild-caught fish and egg yolks.

• Supplementation: If you supplement, look for vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) combined with vitamin K2 (menaquinone) in a formula using medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs) derived from coconut oil.

🕶️ As for sun protection, here’s a non-toxic alternative:

• Choose natural sunscreens with non-nano zinc oxide as the only active ingredient.

• You can also make your own sunscreen at home with just four ingredients: coconut oil, tallow, beeswax, and non-nano zinc oxide.

I still recommend avoiding direct sun and seeking shade between 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM, with or without sunscreen, regardless of your skin type (the fairer your skin, the more careful you should be). Even lions naturally seek shade during those hours.
