It all started with the sauce.

My dad and his Uncle Hoppe recreated a sauce from his childhood, and when my dad finally made it taste exactly how his uncle remembered, he told him, “You have to make this from now on.”

So he did.

For the next 25 years, that little family recipe became a massive company expanding into other countries, manufacturing facilities, trade shows, major markets, and even inspiring Jack Daniel’s to explore flash-frozen meats.

I grew up right in the middle of it. Walking through manufacturing facilities, tasting sauce, helping at trade shows, watching sales pitches, and sitting beside graphic designers as they created labels, websites, and branding.

When they weren’t around, I learned to do it myself.

I didn’t realize it then, but I was being taught business, branding, hospitality, and creativity simply by growing up beside my dad.

The company eventually ended in bankruptcy, but what it gave me never did.

It was never just a sauce. It was the beginning of everything I am building today.

This runs in my blood. 🤍

This isn’t just an Apricot Barbecue Sauce.

After we hit bankruptcy and the company was gone, the sauce never really disappeared. It had a cult following. People would still call our home phone asking if my dad had any sauce left.

That’s because he didn’t just make a barbecue sauce. He made so much of it from scratch including the ketchup and other secret ingredients that nothing else ever quite tasted the same.

Even today, my dad only makes it in small batches for special occasions.

So this bottle means a lot to me.

I’m holding a tiny piece of something that once became a massive company, survived its collapse, and somehow still exists decades later.

It reminds me that things can fall apart without the story being over. Sometimes the dream gets distilled down, but it doesn’t disappear.

There’s still hope. Things do prevail. 🤍

I’m beyond excited to be heading to San Diego this September and honored to be representing Thousand Lashes. There’s something so special about stepping into a room full of artists who are passionate about pushing the beauty industry forward. Every class, every conversation, and every connection is an opportunity to grow.

I’m looking forward to bringing back fresh techniques, new inspiration, and even more value for my clients and students. Growth never stops, and neither do I.

This transition follows a meaningful final chapter with the team. The past four months I've been creating content, working with new lash techniques and styles to create stunning sets. Getting to know fellow artists and the community of Issaquah.

We concluded with the 14-year anniversary celebration as a collective crew, where I contributed in a creative and operational capacity supporting the event flow, designing custom product bags and stickers, and collaborating closely with Erin to help execute her vision at 💜

It was a valuable experience to contribute to both the brand environment and the guest experience in a more expanded role during this closing season. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work alongside you, Erin, and I genuinely wish you continued success moving forward.
