This morning, I asked a question in a candle makers collective about packaging for this vessel style (because I drive myself crazy thinking about the best option for EVERYTHING. Always🤪)

I snapped a quick pic of this candle on my table where I was sitting because it was handy. As I was writing out my query to the group, I started panicking about using the photo of this candle. You see, it’s on my table because it’s not “perfect.” It was more of an over pour sort of candle and my rainbow lines not even. I started wondering if these other chandlers would miss my question and start telling me how my candle colors were off, and is this the quality I put out?

I added a little disclaimer acknowledging the imperfections of this particular lil candle and asked people not to focus on it.

And you know what? Tons of people replied to the post that my candle was beautiful! No one mention led my lines were uneven (or that orange is basically not there).

It got me thinking. How often do we miss the beauty in our own lives because we’re focused and the little bits that are not “perfect” and we fear that others will be focused on our flaws as well?

Perfection is a myth. And most likely, we’re the only ones who notice most of our little flaws. Let’s not miss the 90% of our lives that are wonderful because we’re so focused on the 10% that we deem less.

I know a lot of what I post is fun and funny, but can we get serious for a minute? Like serious winter skin care serious?

When I started making soap 20 years ago (yes, two zero years ago!), I wanted to make beautiful things, but also beneficial things to care for me skin. I have sensitive skin and to compound it, I have food sensitivities. That may sound funny to say because you definitely shouldn’t eat a lotion bar🤢, but your skin is your largest organ and it’s important to care for it!

I’ve formulated these Luxurious Solid Lotion Bars to not only smell wonderful but they are full of skin pampering ingredients!

- Beeswax- creates a protective barrier for skin
- Arrowroot Powder - gives a silky feel and encourages absorption of oils and extracts
- Argan oil - moisturizing and full of Vitamin A and E
- Rosehip Seed oil - hydrating and full of Vitamin C and A
- Oat extract - soothing and moisturizing
- Chamomile extract - soothes irritated skin
- Calendula Extract - traditionally used to moisturize skin
- Evening Primrose Extract - gentle and soothing for sensitive or mature skin
