Things are shifting at Wayward Chickadee too. The fresh, citrusy scents of summer are gradually making way for warmer, spicier, more comforting notes.

Maine became our home — but over the years, it has become much more than the place where we live.

It’s where we built our family, where Wayward Chickadee was born, and where we’ve experienced again and again what community can truly mean.

Our own family journey has shown us, in a very personal way, how much kindness, understanding, and practical support can matter. It has deepened something we already believed in: that communities are stronger when people look out for one another.

For One Another grew from that belief — and from a desire to contribute, in our own way, to the community we’re proud to call home.

We’re proud to support Maine Needs through this campaign. Their work is rooted in something we deeply believe in: helping people and families across Maine access essential items and practical support, while bringing the community together around meaningful, everyday acts of care.

On September 11, 2001, I was 20 years old, sitting in a café in Geneva, Switzerland.

I remember it as a beautiful September day. It was just before 3 p.m. when the background music suddenly stopped, and news of the attacks on the World Trade Center came through.

Shock. Disbelief. And a heavy silence.

Like millions of people around the world, everything seemed to stop in that moment. Thousands of miles away, our thoughts turned to the United States — to the victims and their families.

Twenty-five years later, most of us still remember where we were when we heard the news. A day that forever changed the course of the world.

Today, we remember those who lost their lives, their families, and all those forever affected by September 11.
