The History of Dunbar Brothers Beef Company - Part 1: Our Dunbar Roots
Our Great Great Uncle B.B Dunbar (see newspaper snippet) settled in Edwards County in early 1900’s. Having no kids of his own, when he passed away he left it to his brother, our Great Great Grandad Paul Dunbar. Paul then left the land to his own children, one being our Great Grandad Ned Dunbar.
Great Grandad Ned originally ran cross bred cattle with Brahman influence. Our grandad Allan started running the ranch with him around the 1930’s. In the early 1950’s they experienced the worst drought since moving to the area which forced them to sell all of their cattle. However, in 1957 they decided to get back into the cattle business by buying their first herd of Black Angus cattle and we’ve been running Black Angus ever since.
We’re proud to be the fifth generation on the Dunbar Ranch and to be raising the sixth.
