So really cool story about how Julian ended up in my chair, he actually went to one of my old beauty school friends ( ) back when I was at Capitol for a while!! What a small world! I used all the tricks I’ve been working on with cutting during my time at and pulled out the stops for this one, since it was my last week on the floor. And also showed Julian how to start styling his waves since he’s giving longer styles a try!

If you’re wanting to experiment with a new style, fellas, I’m your girl!!

Tools used:
clipper, trimmers and guards (4-2 in the nape and temples w/levers used both ways)
4” shears

The recipe (and HOW I used it because I don’t gatekeep!):
Bassu oil >> couple tiny drops when wet and a few as the last step to help break up crunch
curl corps defining cream and enhancing gel >> a small sq**rt of each and mix them in your palm then rake through while around 50% dry and plop it out (a little goes a long way with this one so use less than you think!!)
Control hairspray >> spray on after the previous cocktail before diffusing and again to help set the final crunch without it being super straw-like (this is THE hack and a great way to baby-step into getting used to crunchy waves, trust.)

It’s official!! I’m done with beauty school!!! Thank you from the bottom of my very big heart to everyone who’s been a cheerleader for me on my long journey to this finish line! (I’m trying to make the rounds to all of you to make sure you know that!!) Things are already starting to get rolling for me before I’m officially out of the building, which is the polar opposite of where I was when I first came here.

AND I’M HERE FOR IT, BRIGHT AND EARLY. 💜

Jess gave me the honor of being the first person to EVER color her hair professionally today, and she is glowing!!!! We did a partial foilyage (placement by .blonde.chronicles ) with a lovely honey toner for that subtle sun kissed vibe just in time for summer. I also gave her lovely natural texture some layers with my razor and shears to help activate her waves as she starts to embrace them. After all the shaping, I did my signature Long Barrel beach waves to make those chunky teasylights POP. ✨

Getting to be the first person to ever work on your hair today was such a treat, Jess!! I’m so happy you love your new hair! 🫶🏻

Kyra sat in my chair with some well-experienced hair and wasn’t too sure where to take it next. After asking about her interesting color history, we decided on a lovely shade of green that channels her inner fae princess. Any time I get to mix up custom shades with is a chance to tap into my former art kid side, and I’m NEVER disappointed with the results!! After throwing in some of my go-to beach waves (which fed my addiction of styling vivid hair), Kyra’s ROCKING her new ‘do.

I love love LOVE these kinds of “passion projects”! I’ve always been the friend to slap rainbow colors on their friends’s heads in high school, and it’s so fun when I get to do appointments just like that behind the chair!! My dream is to do hair for people who look like they’re so alt that they do their own hair in their bathroom, you know those baddies. (I know and love several 🫶🏻) I’m also a firm believer in the phrase that “life is too short to not have some fun with your hair”. 😁

What an exciting way to start off my last month on the floor!! It was a pleasure meeting you, Kyra! 😁

I’m so happy that my Fashion Week mentor trusted me to create this funky ‘money piece’ on her today!! (She thankfully also had my back on ‘before’ pictures. 😅) We created a custom mix with some shades for this POP of orange that she totally rocks and toned down her DIY-lights with some Shades EQ for more contrast. It’s always fun when the appointments start off with a brainstorming session over a swatch book! 😄

This is probably one of the coolest haircuts I’ve done in beauty school!! Zack sat down and showed me his inspo photo (swipe all the way to the right) and I told him he’d come to the right chair! I’m a HUGE Supernatural fan and had so much fun giving him this Dean-inspired taper with some heavy texturing on top. (And yes, I blended out that weight line but of course it was AFTER I’d taken pictures. 🤦🏼‍♀️)

I got the opportunity to participate in a hairstyling competition with the level 3’s this week, and I was blown away by all the creativity in the room! My group’s theme was Greek Goddesses, but there were also some fairies and Empresses of the Cosmos present.

Cat is one of the very first humans that I ever actually got to work on when I first started beauty school, she was my balayage model! This week she came to see me for a little help with growing out some brown box dye. We decided on a subtle chunky caramel foilyage to help break up the solid color and help camouflage her new growth as it comes in, even though it’s very close to the brown she used. I used a combination of placement techniques from .blonde.chronicles to create this lived-in color, and both Cat and I love how it turned out! I will definitely be trying it again on other foilyages and balayages, it made the application flow easily and the results were perfectly subtle. (Swipe all the way to the end to see a ‘before’ and ‘after’ of the very first balayage I’ve every done. 👀)
