Colorado Family Trip ‘22!! Adventuring through the Rocky Mountains with little service was a blessing 🏔

Today has been a day where I found myself thinking of you every time I let my mind wander 🙂 Grandma Olivette “Tootie” Kilroy, I was so blessed to have you in my life. Her Dad was a wealthy bootlegger, they owned property and would run their business out of the basements. The Depression did have a huge impact on their wealth and she, the youngest of 4, ended up taking care of the family much of the time. She was amazing and a firecracker, in the ‘70s she went from smoking two packs a day, a constant cigarette in her hand, to ZERO and JOGGING everyday. Which was unheard of. All because my mother came home crying one day from school. They were learning the negative affects of smoking. So she stopped. That day, cold turkey. That was the power of her love. She ended up teaching herself golf & swam when the weather wasn’t suited for a run.
I contribute many of my aspects of self to her. Things that make me truly happy. Gardening, animals (she was always rescuing cats or dogs), my athleticism, and my constant drive to pursue new interests.
She used to sing “You are My Sunshine” to us when putting is to bed. So now I do to my kids 🌞. Love you Gma, forever keeping my eye on the prize. ⭐️
