Jewish circumcision ceremony on the 8th day of a boy's life. Such a beautiful and deep range of emotions: elation, nervousness, anxiety, pain, relief, pride, joy all over again. This was my first time witnessing this type of event. How I "see" in something new is always fascinating to me.
I had always known that "Nathan" is Hebrew for "God's gift." It was a joy to welcome a Jonathan ("God has given") into the world! Congratulations to the family!! =)

This article is safe for work. Thoughts?
I limit myself to using Photoshop only for extreme purposes and "for good." I only cover up noticeable pimples in close-ups, which already feels weird to me. Since starting my photography business in March 2013, I have used Photoshop fewer than ten times. Do you think most people want pimples Photoshopped out? What about wrinkles?
I'm also against heavy makeup--maybe even any makeup at all--but that's my own personal taste and I should respect a client's taste. For one of my documentary projects about natural looks, it's been so hard to find women who are willing to be photographed without makeup.
Keira Knightley Posed Topless To Protest Photoshop Keira Knightley just joined the ranks of celebrities who are taking a stand against Photoshop. In reference to her unedited topless photo shoot for Interview magazine, Knightley told The Times, a British newspaper: I’ve had my body mani...

Young Jewish Professionals of Boston hosted its annual Tu B'av (Jewish holiday of love) celebration as a White Party Cruise with everyone dressed in white. Beautiful setting, wonderful people, amazing evening.
These are my favorite photos. More photos by me and by the other photographer Nir Landau Photography (working separately) can eventually be found on the Get Chai and YJP pages. Tag yourselves in these albums and on the Get Chai and YJP ones! Also, check out what other events they have for the Jewish community!

One of my favorite photos from a maternity photoshoot with a former coworker of mine. Congratulations, Amy!! I can't wait to meet your son!
One thing I never told Amy and Andrew:
I like adding a personal touch to things, so in the three hours leading up to the photoshoot, I loaded some music by the Dave Matthews Band onto my iPod. (I knew that Amy and Andrew met through a mutual love for DMB music.) For the shoot, I had my iPod and portable speakers in my bookbag, intending to use some music to set the mood. We never got settled enough in one location for me to bust out that surprise though.
..But the photos came out well anyway! =)

I feel so inspired when people use their artistic skills for good. =)
Is there a photo you've always wanted Photoshopped for some reason?

A Grieving Father Asked Strangers To Photoshop A Picture Of His Baby Daughter After She Passed Away "Since she was in the hospital her whole life, we never were able to get a photo without all her tubes."
Today I'm taking photos of someone who I won't even be able to see. It's my first maternity photo session! I'm expecting... it to be fun! =)

My sister wanted a portrait displaying her newest tattoo. Her first tattoo was our late grandfather's name in Chinese on her back. He was a painter who inspired us to love and respect all art.

My comments:
- If you're an everyday consumer or amateur, there's little purpose in buying a top-of-the-line DSLR, especially if you won't be printing poster-sized prints. Get an entry-level DSLR with a nicer lens. I'm baffled by how many people walk the streets with a $3000 Canon Mark II or III while shooting in auto mode with no idea what their buttons do and have no idea how to compose a good photo.
- For 9 years, I considered myself a good photographer even though I had cheap point-and-shoot cameras that fit in my pocket and had fewer megapixels than my current phone. Would you believe that two photos I took with a 3.2 MP camera are STILL in my professional portfolio, alongside my newer photos? I didn't buy my DSLR until 2013. It's all about noticing things, interacting (or purposely NOT interacting) with subjects, emotional perception and foresight, standing in the right place, and seeing. Buttons and features are important but come after all the skills in "seeing." That's all photography is. Seeing. Learn to see before you get expensive gear.
Video: DigitalRev Shows You that DSLRs Under $100 Can Still Get the Job Done Photography can be an expensive hobby to get into. With most DSLRs nowadays coming in at around $400 for even the lowest of consumer level cameras. By the

I met Sally at a TEDx reception. After volunteering to write articles for TEDx together, being foodies together, and salsa dancing, I also found out she was a willing model for a project I'm doing. This was one of my favorite shots. Natural beauty! Who else can model for this project?!
Sally, best wishes in grad school and beyond!!
