Alpha Wave Performance
Sustainable health + performance for high-capacity leaders.
I found breathwork on the floor of my apartment, on one of the darkest nights of my life.
I was chronically sick. I felt deeply isolated and out of options.
In a moment that sort of shook me, I heard a voice inside my head say “sit down.” I sat down.
I heard, “Close your eyes.” I closed my eyes and intuitively started to consciously breathe.
Years of anxiety and fear I didn't know how to put down lifted.
For a long time I thought that was the point. Regulate yourself, and you feel better.
But regulation was never the destination. It was (and is) the doorway.
On one end, it offers healing. In the middle, it offers presence and balance. On the other end, it offers the capacity to create something bigger than yourself.
It connects you with the ability to hear what you actually believe, feel, and want, and have the nervous system bandwidth to act on it.
All of this through learning how to use our own breath. 😌
I worked with a client recently who protects their time with family beautifully.
No guilt, no over-explaining, just a clear no when they need one.
Then we started talking about work.
That same clarity wasn't there at all. Boundaries they'd never let slide with family, they let dissolve without even noticing.
It's not that work matters more to them.
It's that they haven't learned yet that they're allowed to trust themselves there too.
Inside the Library, there are two different tracks, and knowing which one you need is honestly half the practice.
Some days your body is activated (wired, anxious, spinning) and it needs to come down.
Other days you're numbed out, flat, disconnected, and it needs to come back online instead.
Those are opposite problems. They need opposite tools.
A lot of people default to the same practice every time, regardless of what their body actually needs that day.
So many of my clients come to me wanting a better system. A better strategy. A better way to organize the chaos.
It’s almost never the real issue.
A dysregulated nervous system produces the same results no matter how many times you rewrite the plan.
When we are reactive or rushed, we miss things.
It doesn't matter how smart the system is if the state making it is stuck in survival.
Your best thinking lives on the other side of regulation. Not on the other side of more effort.
Regulate first. The better plan tends to show up on its own.
Save this for next time you're rewriting instead of breathing.
When I spend time in nature, I can feel MY nature again.
…And I can’t think of anything more valuable than that.
When I give myself to nature. I get me.
When I get me. The world gets me, too.
My wife. My step-daughter. My sister. My parents. My clients. Everyone.
It’s that simple. 😌
Most of the people I work with breathe into their chest all day without ever noticing it.
Quick, shallow, high in the body. Then they wonder why they feel wired and tired at the same time.
Chest breathing keeps your body in a low-grade state of alert, even when nothing is actually wrong.
Belly breathing does the opposite: it's one of the fastest signals you can send your nervous system that it's safe to stand down.
You don't need to overhaul how you breathe all day. Just notice, a few times a day, and gently pull the breath down a bit deeper each time.
