They’re soft.
Intimate.
Easy to wear.
Deeply transportive.

I had the best hour or so just talking perfume with Fulcanelli, who works there and knows his fragrances.

They have such a special collection of niche brands - and he’s so knowledgeable about them all. I loved hearing his stories and perspectives.

I bought a lot of fragrances, some brands I’d heard of and been flirting with, and others that were totally new to me.

I’m overjoyed at finally having a shop to go to locally that carries indie/niche brands — and I can’t wait to go back.

I have this morning ritual when I first wake up and stumble out of bed. As I go to put on my hoodie I catch a glimpse of the fragrance (or fragrances) I wore the last time I wore it. It’s become kind of a thing— guess the scent, hoodie edition.

I finally received my bottle of Guerlain Shalimar Millésime Rose… and I don’t think I was emotionally prepared for it. 🤦‍♀️

Shalimar has always held a deeply sentimental place in my life because it was my grandmother’s signature scent and really is my first scent memory.

The moment I smell it, I feel her.

This is such an elegant interpretation of both rose and Shalimar. 🌹

This doesn’t smell vintage or overly powdery or heavy to me at all.

Instead, it feels like a soft veil of rose drifting over the skin — wrapped in Shalimar’s signature ambery vanilla warmth.

You still get that iconic DNA:
bergamot…
powder…
vanilla…
that slightly sensual warmth…

But now there’s this airy, jammy rose threaded through it that makes the entire fragrance feel luminous instead of dense.

I actually wish it were heavier.

Because this fragrance feels almost untouchable to me.

Like having someone you love standing just within reach… but not being able to fully hold them.

And maybe that’s why this perfume affected me so deeply.

Because it smells familiar.
Comforting.
Warm.
Like memory.

Like my grandmother quietly passing through the room for a moment… before disappearing again. 🤍

Ok, I believe I have finally come down from my rush of emotions from unboxing and first experiencing Cedar Chic 🤍

And the good news is… I still am madly in love and it was sooo worth the wait.

I have worn this beauty many times over the last week and it never tires. It’s an effortless day reach, easy for the office, gym or errands — and such a perfect evening scent for dinners out or bedtime.

I was worried that I was more in love with the hype and the excitement of finally having it, but this fragrance has proven it’s more than just hype.

🛑🛑 HOLD UP 🛑🛑

This is not a repeat reel, this is a late entry to my Spring into Summer Rankings of my Dries Van Noten collection — this is a disruption!

This is a major upset to the current ranking— and it may have knocked Santal Greenery from the top.😬😳

Sur Ma Peau came in like a wrecking ball, blowing up the original ranking order.

Fresh.
Powdery.
Citrusy.
Creamy.
Skin-like.

It’s sensual… but because this is an Eau de toilette it’s not heavy. The freshness never fully disappears. The warmth never fully takes over.

This feels less like a typical designer fragrance and more like a niche composition hiding inside a designer label. Or in this case inside etched ombré glass. 😍

And for spring into summer?
This is exactly what I want to smell like.

Confusion, obsession, and carnal energy 🖤

This was a total blind buy— I have most of his perfumes so I figured, why not?!

I tried really hard not to read about it, hear others’ takes— I wanted to experience Rock purely on my own — without opinions.

As only Zernell Gillie can do— I got a front row seat to my favorite band of all time - all through a few sprays.

This fragrance challenged my brain.

I like when I can figure my fragrances out and this one has politely asked me to relax, sit back, and enjoy the show— something I don’t do very well. 🤣

I was inspired by to rank my Dries Van Noten collection for Spring into Summer - this was a little harder than I thought, they’re all sooo good. 😬

One thing that really ties this collection together is contrast — softness against structure, sweetness against greenery, florals against woods. Like the bottles that hold them, the fragrances feel very tactile, almost like fabrics translated into scent. ❤️
