Welp y’all, we made it a year! Signing the lease on this shop felt like the biggest risk, and I’m so glad we took it.

A week before our grand opening, I found out I was pregnant, so this first year has been a wild ride from start to finish. Thankfully, we’ve had so much support from friends and family along the way.

Huge thank you to my husband for building so much of this shop by hand, from the front counter to driving thousands of miles to hand-pick our taxidermy.

I owe you all a little apology — I’ve been pretty quiet on here lately. Life has been keeping me busy in the best way, but I’ve missed sharing everything with you.

That said… I just received a new shipment of books and I’m very excited about these.

We’ve got a beautifully odd mix — from stories about the first women doctors who paved their own way, to dream dictionaries you can get lost in, and plenty of other unique finds in between. The kind of books you don’t stumble across every day.

Two Hands-On Pinning Classes – Saturday, March 28th

Join us at Amothecary for an evening of natural history workshops where you’ll learn the art of specimen pinning and leave with your own beautifully prepared piece.

5 PM — Giant Forest Owl Moth Pinning Class$95 • All supplies includedWork with the stunning Giant Forest Owl Moth and learn proper pinning and spreading techniques.Fun fact: March is owl moth mating season, making it the perfect time to celebrate these incredible insects.

7 PM — Metallic Green Scarab Beetle Class$85 • All supplies includedStudents will pin one brilliant metallic green scarab in class and receive a second specimen to take home and practice with. We had to do something green for March! 🍀

We just unpacked a fresh shipment from our good friends at in Kansas City and they brought some seriously cool things with them.

We now have skeletal articulation kits and pre-made insect pinning kits, perfect for anyone who wants to try their hand at specimen preparation at home. To make things even better, we’re also carrying their luxury instruction guides, which walk you through the process step-by-step. Pair a kit with a guide and you’ve got the perfect gift for the curious, the crafty, and the natural history lovers.

We’ve also added new wooden wall hangings to the shop in a whole slew of different designs—beautiful pieces that fit perfectly into a unique inspired space.

Celebrate love, art, and natural history with us this February through two very special pinning classes.

🦋 Valentine’s Double Butterfly Pinning Class
📅 February 14th at 5:00 PM
💞 $120 per couple
Each ticket includes two butterfly specimens, one shared frame, and all tools and instruction for two people. Couples will pin a Cramer’s 88 and a Violet Banded Palla, designed to be displayed together in a single frame once dried. A truly one-of-a-kind Valentine’s experience.

🦋 Atlas Moth Pinning Class
📅 February 21st at 5:30 PM
💲 $125 per person
Participants will pin an Atlas moth, one of the largest moths in the world. Ticket includes the specimen, a frame, all tools, and guided instruction.
