BlueFit & Massage offers personal training and massages. As a personal trainer I found myself wanting to explore more bodywork and expand my knowledge to address my clients injuries.
As a result I graduated from the Northern Virginia Community College’s Clinical Massage Program, which is considered one of the best programs in the DC area. My work includes several techniques from Swedish massages, deep tissue, trigger points, hot stones, sport to chair massages that are specially focus on relaxation, stress relief and injury prevention and rehabilitation. The vagus nerve is the longest nerve in your body.
It connects your brain to many important organs throughout the body, including the gut (intestines, stomach), heart and lungs.
The vagus nerve is also a key part of your parasympathetic “rest and digest” nervous system. It influences your breathing, digestive function and heart rate, all of which can have a huge impact on your mental health.
You don’t have to be controlled by your body and mind.
I like to stimulate the vagus nerve naturally by
1. Cold exposure - I start with a warm shower and finish it with at least 30sec of cold water
2. Deep and Slow Breathing- slower and deeper breathing from your diaphragm helps to relieve stress and to reach a state of relaxation
3. Probiotics researches found positive to the GABA receptors in the brain, a reduction in stress hormone and less depression and anxiety- like behavior; Omega-3 fatty acids necessary for the normal electrical functioning of brain and nerve system
4. Meditation- it’s my favorite relaxation technique. Love the “insight timer” app
5. Exercise - my routine is to lift heavy 1-3 times a week, high intensity 1-2 times per week and walk or jog as much as I can with my dog every day
6. Massage - you know where to find me
7. Socializing and laughing - shouldn’t be too hard
