❄️ COLD PLUNGE: MORE THAN JUST MUSCLE RECOVERY

Cold plunging isn’t just something athletes do after a hard workout. Controlled cold exposure may also influence your nervous system, stress response, and mood.

🧠 Nervous System + Stress
Cold water creates a short, controlled stress response. With repeated exposure, some people find it helps them become more comfortable regulating their response to stress.

😌 Anxiety + Mood
That initial cold shock forces you to slow down, focus on your breathing, and stay present. Cold exposure also triggers changes in neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine, which may contribute to increased alertness and improved mood.

💪 Muscle Recovery
Cold-water immersion can help reduce post-workout soreness and may improve perceived recovery after strenuous exercise — one reason it’s been popular with athletes for years.

⚡ Energy + Focus
Ever notice how awake you feel after stepping into cold water? Cold exposure activates the sympathetic nervous system and can produce a noticeable increase in alertness.

The goal isn’t to prove how long you can suffer in freezing water. 😂 Start gradually, control your breathing, and listen to your body.

Sometimes improving nervous-system resilience means intentionally exposing the body to a small, controlled stressor — and teaching it that it can recover.

❄️ Cold exposure isn’t appropriate for everyone, particularly people with certain cardiovascular conditions. Talk with your healthcare provider before starting if you have medical concerns.

🩺 Direct Primary Care is kind of like having a doctor in the family.

You know that family member everyone texts when they have a weird rash, their kid wakes up sick, their blood pressure looks strange, or they’re wondering, “Do I actually need to go to urgent care for this?”

That’s the kind of relationship we want our patients to have with us.

With Direct Primary Care, you’re not limited to a rushed appointment every few months. You have a healthcare provider who knows you, knows your history, and is actually accessible when questions come up.

📱 Have a quick question? Reach out.
🤒 Wake up feeling sick? Let us know.
🧪 Confused about your labs? We’ll explain them.
💊 Worried about a medication or side effect? Ask.
🩺 Need an appointment? We’ll work to get you taken care of.

Healthcare feels different when your provider actually knows who you are.

It’s personal. It’s accessible. And it’s the way primary care should feel.

That’s Direct Primary Care. ❤️

🧠 Could Low Testosterone Be Affecting Your Mental Health?

Depression, low motivation, brain fog, irritability, fatigue, and decreased confidence aren’t always just mental health symptoms.

For men with testosterone deficiency, low testosterone can contribute to changes in mood, energy, motivation, concentration, and overall sense of well-being.

When clinically appropriate, testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) may improve some of these symptoms by addressing an underlying hormonal deficiency.

One potential advantage? TRT has a different side-effect profile than antidepressant medications. Many antidepressants can cause unwanted effects such as sexual dysfunction, emotional blunting, fatigue, or weight changes. TRT does not typically produce the same pattern of side effects—although it has its own risks and requires appropriate evaluation and monitoring.

💉 TRT may help appropriately selected patients experience:
• Improved mood and sense of well-being
• More energy and motivation
• Better concentration and mental clarity
• Improved libido and sexual function
• Greater drive and overall quality of life

This doesn’t mean antidepressants are bad—or that everyone experiencing depression needs testosterone.

It means we should ask a bigger question:

Are we treating the symptoms, or have we also looked for what may be contributing to them?

If you’re experiencing changes in mood, motivation, energy, or sexual health, a comprehensive evaluation—including hormone testing when appropriate—may provide another piece of the puzzle.

⚕️ Treatment should always be individualized and based on symptoms, medical history, and appropriate laboratory evaluation.

October is ADHD Awareness Month. 🧠❤️

And this is for every kid with ADHD who has ever wondered,
“Why can’t I be like everyone else?”

For the kid who struggles to sit still.
Who forgets the directions.
Who loses things.
Who hears “pay attention” over and over.
Who works twice as hard just to keep up—and still sometimes feels like they’re falling behind.

You are not less intelligent.
You are not less capable.
And you are absolutely not less worthy.

Some incredibly talented people have ADHD, including Olympic champion Simone Biles, musician Adam Levine, and Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps.

Your brain may work differently.

And one day, you may discover that the very things that make you feel different are connected to the things that make you shine.

Maybe it’s sports.
Art.
Music.
Dance.
Building.
Writing.
Creating.
Leading.
Or something you haven’t even discovered yet.

So to every child with ADHD who doesn’t think they’re enough:

You have so much inside of you that the world hasn’t even seen yet.

Keep going.

You will find your thing.
You will find your people.
You will find the places where your brain gets to shine. ✨

And when you do, we’ll be right here cheering you on.

Different doesn’t mean less.

⚠️ Buying Peptides Online? “Research Use Only” Matters.

Peptides have become incredibly popular—but where they come from matters just as much as what peptide you’re using.

Many peptides sold online are labeled “for research use only” or “not for human consumption.” That means they may not be manufactured, tested, or dispensed to the same standards expected of medications intended for patients.

When you purchase an injectable peptide from an unknown online source, potential concerns include:

🧪 Purity: Is the vial actually the concentration and peptide listed on the label?

🦠 Sterility: Injectable products need strict sterile manufacturing standards. Contamination can lead to serious infections.

💉 Dosing accuracy: Even small differences in concentration can significantly change the dose you’re administering.

📦 Storage & shipping: Some peptides require specific handling conditions to maintain stability.

🔍 Contaminants: Without reliable testing, it can be difficult to know whether a product contains impurities, residual chemicals, or something different from what the label claims.

And a “Certificate of Analysis” on a website doesn’t automatically guarantee that the vial in your hand was independently tested or came from the batch represented by that certificate.

Peptides themselves aren’t all inherently dangerous—but injecting a product of uncertain identity, purity, potency, or sterility adds risks that are difficult to predict.

If you’re interested in peptide therapy, talk with a licensed healthcare provider who can discuss the available evidence, potential risks and benefits, medication interactions, appropriate monitoring, and whether a particular therapy makes sense for you.

💙 Your health deserves more than a mystery vial from the internet.

What if going to the doctor didn’t feel like… going to the doctor? 🤔

Imagine having a healthcare provider who actually knows you.

Not just your medication list.
Not just your diagnoses.
Not just what your labs looked like six months ago.

Someone who knows what’s normal for you.

Someone you can message when something feels off instead of immediately wondering, “Do I need urgent care?”

Someone who has time to listen when you say, “I know my labs are normal, but I don’t feel normal.”

That’s one of the reasons I love Direct Primary Care.

Healthcare doesn’t have to be rushed, complicated, or impersonal.

Sometimes better healthcare starts with something incredibly simple:

More time. More access. More trust.

At our practice, we want you to feel comfortable asking questions, bringing up the “weird” symptom you almost didn’t mention, and being an active part of decisions about your health.

Because you live in your body every single day.

We’re here to listen. ❤️

🩺 Healthcare Should Feel Personal Again.

Direct Primary Care isn’t just a different way to pay for healthcare—it’s a different kind of relationship with your provider.

Instead of feeling like another name on a schedule, you have a provider who actually has the time to get to know you—your health history, your goals, your concerns, and what matters to you.

With Direct Primary Care, you can experience:

✨ Longer, less-rushed appointments
📱 Direct access to your provider through texting and telehealth
🗓️ Easier scheduling and more flexibility
🧪 Preventative care tailored to you
💬 Time to actually ask questions and understand your options
❤️ A provider who knows your story—not just what’s written in your chart

Healthcare works differently when you have time to build trust.

Direct Primary Care brings the relationship back to medicine.

Because you deserve to feel known, heard, and cared for—not processed.

Congrats to Kayla for finishing RN school, we’re so lucky to have you 🫶🏼

🚨 BIG CHANGES IN HORMONE THERAPY: THE FDA HAS UPDATED THE WARNINGS

For years, many patients have been hesitant to consider estrogen or testosterone because of concerns about serious cardiovascular risks, cancer, and other complications.

But the evidence — and the FDA labeling — have evolved.

💗 ESTROGEN / MENOPAUSAL HORMONE THERAPY

The FDA has approved removal of several risks from the prominent Boxed Warning on menopausal hormone therapy, including warnings related to:

• Cardiovascular disease
• Breast cancer
• Probable dementia

These changes followed a review of newer evidence and concerns that older data — particularly from the Women’s Health Initiative — had sometimes been applied too broadly to women considering hormone therapy today. (U.S. Food and Drug Administration)

Importantly, this does not mean estrogen is risk-free. Some risks remain elsewhere in the prescribing information, and systemic estrogen used without adequate endometrial protection in a woman with a uterus still carries an endometrial cancer warning. (U.S. Food and Drug Administration)

💙 TESTOSTERONE

The FDA also removed language from testosterone labeling suggesting an increased risk of major adverse cardiovascular outcomes after results from the large TRAVERSE trial did not demonstrate increased rates of major cardiovascular events compared with placebo. (U.S. Food and Drug Administration)

That doesn’t mean testosterone is appropriate for everyone. Blood pressure and other potential adverse effects still need to be considered, and treatment should include appropriate evaluation and monitoring.

🧬 The takeaway?

Hormone therapy shouldn’t automatically be viewed as something dangerous or something everyone needs.

It should be individualized medicine.

Your symptoms, medical history, laboratory findings, age, risk factors, goals, and quality of life should all be part of the conversation.

Medicine evolves as the evidence evolves — and hormone therapy is a great example of why our understanding of risks and benefits should evolve with it.

📍Talk with a knowledgeable healthcare provider about whether hormone optimization may be appropriate for you.
