Alexandria's Army

At 18 weeks we heard the words that no parent ever wants to hear, there is something wrong with your baby. We found out that we were having a baby girl, we were so excited then our happiness suddenly became tears. We were told that our daughter had several indicators for a chromosomal condition known as Trisomy 18, also known as Edwards Syndrome. It hit me like a ton of bricks, I knew from obtaining my Masters Degree what it was, I knew that our daughter didn't have a good chance, I knew she would probably be stillborn or die shortly thereafter. But I was not about to give up on her. This is our journey. Alexandria Rose Ridley was born on April 6 via C-Section. She had a cleft lip/palate, VSD/ASD, omphalocele and rocker bottom feet. She weighed 3lbs 11oz with black hair and the most beautiful big brown eyes. She gave us 15 of the most precious, amazing days. In those short 15 days she taught so many people about life and love. Even though she is no longer here, her journey is not over. She continues to touch peoples lives. Through this page we will try and educate you on what Trisomy 18 and many other Trisomy conditions that there are. We will also share other pages of families going through the same thing that we are going through.
