One of the questions I get asked most often is, "Why do these oils smell different than the oils I'm used to?"

The answer begins with the process.

Most oils on the market are steam distilled, a method that uses heat to capture the lightest aromatic compounds of a plant. The oils we work with in Egypt are created differently. The plants are macerated, cold-pressed, filtered, and aged using methods that have been passed down through generations.

The result isn't simply a scent. It's a fuller expression of the plant.

Sometimes that means an oil smells softer. Sometimes deeper. Sometimes it evolves on the skin over time. And sometimes it surprises people because it doesn't match what they expected.

I've come to appreciate that the most interesting things in life rarely fit neatly into our expectations.

They invite us to experience them instead.

Most people move through life so quickly that they stop noticing what they’re actually feeling.

The atmosphere of a room. The way certain places affect them. The shift that happens when they finally slow down enough to breathe deeply and become present again.

One of the beautiful things about working with oils is that they naturally invite awareness back into the moment. Scent has a way of bypassing mental noise and reconnecting you with something more immediate and instinctive.

Sometimes the smallest rituals end up changing the way we experience an entire day.

Some experiences leave you inspired long after they end.

Grateful for the opportunity to spend time at the event in Seattle surrounded by people exploring consciousness, healing, human potential, and the deeper connection between mind, body, and spirit.

One of the things I appreciate most is being reminded that real transformation doesn’t come from force. It comes from awareness. From presence. From becoming more intentional with the way we think, live, create, and connect with the world around us.

Thank you to for the wisdom, the generosity, and the years of work helping expand the conversation around consciousness and human potential.

And thank you to everyone creating spaces where these conversations can continue to grow.

There’s something about stepping out of your normal environment that changes the way you experience everything.

Your senses sharpen. You notice details you normally overlook. Even familiar things, scent, atmosphere, light, begin to feel different.

Ancient cultures understood the importance of changing environment and stepping away from routine. Pilgrimages, retreats, journeys into nature, these experiences weren’t just physical movement. They were a way to reset perception and reconnect with yourself more clearly.

Sometimes clarity doesn’t come from thinking harder.

Sometimes it comes from creating enough space to actually feel again.

Ancient cultures didn’t view oils as luxury items or fragrances. They were woven into daily life, ceremony, healing practices, meditation, and spiritual traditions. The plant itself was respected, not just for how it smelled, but for the way it could influence emotion, atmosphere, and state of mind.
Some oils were used to ground. Others to uplift. Some were believed to support clarity, stillness, or connection to something greater than oneself.

Modern life tends to separate these things. Ancient cultures didn’t.

Maybe that’s part of why these traditions continue to resonate thousands of years later.

Most people think Blue Lotus is just… Blue Lotus.
Same plant. Same experience.

It’s not.

Where it’s grown, how it’s extracted, and how it’s handled changes everything. Most of what’s on the market today isn’t coming from Egypt, and once you experience the difference, it becomes pretty clear why that matters.

I wrote something to explain this in a real way.

Most people wait for clarity before they trust something, but it usually works the other way around. You feel it first, a subtle pull, a shift, a sense that something is different, even if you can’t explain why. The mind catches up later.

The more you start paying attention to that first signal, the easier it becomes to recognize what’s actually aligned and what isn’t. It’s quiet, easy to overlook, but once you notice it, you start to trust it more. And over time, that changes how you move through everything.
